Usually black lines in a flat panel indicate an error or problem in the video board. A service professional can hook up to the tv and better diagnose the issue.

Sorry its not a black lines but moving shadows of lines from left to right and right to left, and from thick to thin, back and forth until the TV got warm up and normally will disappear by itself after sometime. But if we were to turn on a nearby FAN, the problem will be worsen. I was curious to know could it be due to some Electromagnetic interferences that is causing the Plasma TV to behave so strangely. Any remedy solution? By the way the Plasma TV should already about 5-6 years old by now.

I purchased yesterday a 42"

I came across this very same problem a year or so ago regarding a Plasma TV and connection via scart. It turned out to be a problem with the scart lead. Replacing the lead with an all pins connected type fixed the problem. It was caused by the TV not being given the +ve voltage on pin8 and the TV thought it was not a proper signal and shut down.
Hope that helps.

HEllo I purchased the 42 plasma and was wondering

Go to this site and get the correct manual

http://www.lge.com/products/sidemenu/list/plasma%20tv_PRD|MANU_manu.jhtml

Note you have to be able to get an HD signal for the TV to display it. If you are on satellite TV, then a new receiver is needed.

Humming from back of tv

sounds like your powerboard, you can try a cheap fix by putting a small fan behind the tv on low and see if that helps. Also I would not settle for this and call in the warranty and get it fixed while you can.

42'' LG Plasma bought in Australia doesn't work in UK?

Find out if Australia uses a different standard of HD programming than Guernsey or not since it's not picking up any channels at all with an attenna. Does the skybox use only scart connections and that's how your small lcd is connected to it?

Hi. i have an LG 42inch plasma, approx 18 months old. about 2 months ago, a green stripe developed down the right hand side of the screen, approx 1.5 inches wide. last week a 2nd stripe the same width...

Sadly, the plasma screen is failing. The green strip is no longer functioning properly and the failures will continue to progress.

If still under warranty, get it exchanged.

Cracked screen

You can have them repaired but, usually the cost of a new plasma panel exceeds the cost of replacing the set.
