Hi,
The float that turns the pump on and off is bad or stuck...
Pull the pump out and check the float... if it shuts off the find out what was holding it up...if it still runs the float is bad and will need to be replaced...

What causes my truck to lose water, and what makes water get into my engine oil?

the water can get into the sump oil from pin holes in the timing case behind the water pump impeller
if you have water in the sump oil it will be a dirty grey color and the filler cap will have water droplets under it
If the oil is normal color then the loss could be from rusted welsh plugs
pressure test the cooling system to check for leaks

Impeller runs, no water comes out. Removed output hose, air is blowing out when removed from sump.

Remove bottom cover, check for clogged intake holes, and make sure the impeller is solidly attached to the shaft. Can you see the water in the sump? Is the sump full of sand at the bottom?

Sump pump

I am presuming you're asking about a basement sump pump, the kind that keeps your basement dry. Well, those things are not meant to run all the time. They are usually triggered by a float valve. That is a device that moves according to the water level in the sump (in other words, the hole). When the water gets high enough, the float activates a switch, the pump kicks in, the water is flushed away, the float falls and that turns the pump off until the cycle starts all over again. The frequency of the cycle depends on how fast the sump fills itself. I have one that kicks in five times a minute. Another might have a much longer off time. But don't be worrying about yours not being on all the time... that is how they are supposed to behave. Of course, if you have water flowing out the top of the sump, that is a sign things are not right with the pump. Then you really need help.

I purchased a Simer 3986 SS Pump. Need proper mounting location for check valve. I have a manufactured weep hole in the threaded area of the check valve, Pump runs, water level trip vertical float switch...

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

The orientation for a sump pump/check valve are the pump is in the bottom of the pit, the discharge pipe leads up into a check valve, usually very close to if not threaded into the pump discharge, and then the pipe continues up and out to wherever your water discharges to. The weep hole needs to be below the check valve.

The hole is there to prevent an air lock in the pump which would prevent it from moving water.

If the water trapped in the vertical run of the discharge pipe is returning to the pit once the pump shuts off the problem is the check valve is not holding or the hole is on the wrong side of the flapper assembly. Did the check valve come with the unit? If not, you will need to fix it if you can or replace it.

Sump pump won't stop running

by the sounds of it, you are not in a very snowy climate in the northern hemisphere, or you are in a heat wave. the sump is used for getting rid of ground water near the footing of the walls so the soil doesn't become too loose (or wash away) and your house does not sink. right now, it sounds as if the sump pump is taking the water from the ground, pumping it back on your lawn, it soaks back into the ground in to the sump, and continues over and over. see where it's unloading. the outlet tubing should let out at least 10 feet from the house. if the hose is broken or fell off near the wall of your house, the expelled water is soaking back into the ground and right back into the sump. there may also be an underground water issue. if your water table is unusually high or there is a water main break, you'll have the same problem.

The water fills the tank but does not go out of the hose and drain to the sump pump as designed

Check the hose for clog up as well as your sump pump. Have your hose unclogged and let it run. Check the sump pump if this is running. And if it is, and still no water goes out. Open the sump, and check the impeller for defect. Impeller is the one that turns around to push the water out. If it is defective, you must replace it to make it run.
Once you are done, power it up and start it.
