Check the knob to see if it is split or cracked.. If not then you need a new timer.

How do I replace the timer knob on Speed queen AWM351W-3062 ?

The problem may be mechanical failure of the timer rather than the knob, especially if you have to push or pull to start washing.

Why can't I hear the timer ticking?

The timer, if it's the mechanical type that you have to push in the knob to select cycles, then pull out to start, is *not* repairable. From what you are describing, it sounds like the internal mechanism had broken and the timer needs to be replaced. There is a specific, small procedure for removing the dial and replacing it on the new timer--if you are unsure on how to do this, get a qualified tech to do it--otherwise you run the real risk of breaking the mechanism in the new timer. I hope I helped you!

How can I fix the lid of the washer comes down to close and it pushes down on a mechanism that allows the washer to drain and spin, that mechanism how can I fix it ? broke

If it is a top loader you will need to raise the top lid. There should be two spring catches in the front joint about 3 inches in from each side. The springs need to be pushed in to release the catch. with a screwdriver or perhaps table knife or with another thin blade tool. Once the lid is raised you should have access to the problem device. It's possible it has become bent or misaligned. or wire connection apart or badly corroded. Electrical connections need to be cleaned to bright metal. Otherwise, replace the broken device and or switch.

Spin cycle is not emptying completely the basin. clothes are relatively wet.

Put it in spin (empty) with the lid open and push the lid switch. If you see that it agitates while it is going into spin, that means that the "catch" inside the transmission is broke. The "catch" is supposed to lock the mechanism to the spin basket while in spin. The only thing you can do is replace the transmission or buy a new machine.

My whirlpool model/LSR8233JQ1 will not agitate or spin ut does everything else. already bypassed lid switch years ago because it broke, its still connected.

1. you possibly have a malfuncitoning timer
the timer is the control to the motor and the pump on a washer and each click represents function to the components on the washer such as the spin cycle ( the motor engages to spin the drum to extract the water to the pump at a given time on the timer.
Your machine need a service tech to determine this issue.
I hope this helps.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer Timer problem

OK, this timer is designed to spin in both directions and, if you have to advance this timer in any way to complete a cycle, you will need to replace this timer asap.

In most cases, the mechanism will fail, causing this non advancement stage(stalled timer mech).

replacing the timer will fix this issue.

Washing machine is not spinning, and getting stuck mid cycle

all electrical parts get their signals from the timer assembly. the timer operates of a small motor much like a motor from an ac electric clock. inside the mechanical timer are contacts which make and break according to a preset timer cam which advances throughout the timed cycle. if a contact is burnt or burnt off that function will not operate. if there is a mechanical hangup inside, the timer will not function. replacing the timer can be expensive at about $130. the timer schematic of a washer can be very confusing because certain functions happen the same time as others, while others are actually open. the timer cams and how they are connected appear on the timer open/closed chart. not much help I know but I've pulled many a hair out of my head troubleshooting a maytag.
