Question about Samsung Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a HT-TZ315 Samsung home theatre system. The system has worked fine for about a year and a half (while only using it for DVD's) but within a couple of months of getting an optical/digital cable so I can watch TV and use PS3 also in surround sound everytime I turn the system on now it seems to fade away to no sound at all within about 3-5 mins. Sometimes it will start up again and do the same thing and sometimes it will shut down and not start up again with "PROTECT" flashing on the display. I'd really appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!

Hi guythomas,
Protect is an error code for short and overload. To isolate where the fault came from use only the DVD player(built-in) while disconnected all inputs(PS3, TV etc.). If the symptom didn't appear, high chance that it came from bad cable connectors from your inputs. You have to change the inputs with a new cables, old cable may have an internal shorts due to frequent bending or pulling which trigger the protect error code.
If the symptom still there after disconnecting the inputs from the unit, disconnect now the speaker while playing again the unit(play it without the speaker's connected). If the symptom didn't appear, the trouble is in the speaker loaded to the unit. You have to isolate them one-by-one by connecting it one at a time. Note : turn off the unit before connecting the speakers.
If the symptom still there, the fault is in the unit itself. This is caused by either faulty power supply which is gone to out-of regulation due to faulty parts(mostly the electrolytic capacitor) or the audio Output circuitry. This is quite technical and need to check by a qualified technician, I would advice you to send it to repair shop to troubleshoot the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

HI - I have a Samsung HT-TZ315 home theatre and it wont play the Avatar dvd as well. The disc loads then stops at a black page with 0.00 timer then nothing. It is not a blue ray disc and other DVD's work...

The disk I have here, does something similar.. long introduction of black and the sound starts. Then the movie begins. Are you sure it stops completely and has no sound?

Try playing it in your PC with the appropriate DVD software installed. If it fails return it for replacement.

Problem "protect"

Hey guys, just had the same problem and found out it was because I had disconnected the central speaker. This it was creating a back impedance or something and reonnecting did the trick! i.e. check your speaker connections and check that they work... duff speakers could cause the problem too!
