My ice cream maker is doing the same thing. Freezing on the sides and leaving the middle in its liquid state. I see there's one answer here, but it doesn't help. The middle of the ice cream maker is not freezing. It's soupy. Watery. No-where near the consistency of "soft serve" Its just liquid. Is there any way to fix that?

I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.

This is a SOFT-serve ice cream/etc maker. You can pre-chill the ingredients by letting them sit in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes, but you might encounter the opposite problem - the mixture will eventually become too thick for the mixing paddle to turn. All of the Cuisinart ice cream makers, to one extent or another, will produce the consistency you have described - the part touching the rim of the bowl will freeze up, but the rest is soft-serve.

If I do not refrigerate my ice cream solution before I put it into the frozen bowl, the middle will stay liquid. You must chill the solution for maybe about 6 hours and then put it into the bowl that has been in the freezer overnight. It makes perfect ice cream. It will be soft, but thick. Scrape it out of the frozen bowl with a silicone spatula into a container. Freeze for 2 hours (I think the book says 4 hours) and it will be perfect. I've tried to rush it a couple of times and it will then remain liquid in the center. I made rum raisin and was initially afraid that it was the alcohol that prevented it from setting up, but after I chilled it overnight, it worked perfectly.

Ice cream is soupy & when I freeze it it becomes icy

Freeze the bowl for at least 24 hrs, rather than the 12 hrs the manual suggests - it will make all the difference in the world. For really thick ice cream, freeze the bowl for a day, and then put the ingredients in the freezer until the outer rim becomes frozen. Very delicious!

I would actually let the freezer bowl thaw out on a level surface. Then place perfectly level back in the freezer for 24 hours. Should work again. Enjoy!
