Hello There,

when wireless communication light is turned on, it allows you to connect wirelessly to your network if you have a wireless router or wireless capability.

It should not really matter as long as the connection is secure and it will on ly use up a part of your battery when you are not on a regular connection.

Please feel free to leave a testimonial if this works and please do not forget to click 4 thumbs.

Cheers!

After switch on, 6 sec green light, and blinking orange (yellow) light. "Cannot properl communicate with the scanner. The carriage unit may be locked ... etc "

This sounds like there is a mechanical problem inside the scanner. You may want to open the scanner to see if there is anything broken or jammed. It may need some lubrication if it has been unused for a long period of time.

Lexmark 6500 orange blinking light

Blinking orange on the WiFi light means one of the following:
  • The printer is out of the range of the wireless access point (wireless router)
  • The printer is trying to communicate with the wireless access point but the wireless access point is turned off or not working properly.
  • Either the configured printer of the wireless access point has been turned off and back on, and the printer is trying to establish communications with the network.
  • The wireless settings of the printer may no longer be valid.
You may refer to these articles from the Lexmark website to fix the problem:- Wireless & Network Communication Issues with 2008 Lexmark Inkjet Products- How to identify a Wireless Communication Problem and Resolution Tips

I have a D-link DGS-1005G. I have two computers connected and a printer. The D-Link is also connected via LAN. I can obtain internet connection to each computer with wireless and the printer will not...

Hi, you have to set up your printer as a device that can be communicated in your LAN by the two PCs.

To set up your printer properly in the LAN, you need to assign a fixed IP to this printer such that whenever it is switch on again, both PC still communicate to this printer without changing the new IP assigned to this printer.

You need to set up this fixed IP properly in your DLink router. For guidance please check this in your user manual of the Dlink. Please let me know any problem you may have again in future.

ORANGE WIFI LIGHT IS ON

The orange WiFi light on the printer indicates that the printer is not connected to any network or trying to get connected to a wireless network when it's blinking.
Execute the Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility and make sure to enter the correct encryption keys if your wireless network is secured.
Make sure to allow full access to all Lexmark software and printer communication processes in the program rules/permissions for your firewall.
Place your printer where it receives excellent wireless signal quality and away from other electronic devices which can cause wireless interferences (e.g. cordless phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors, garage door openers, and other wireless electronics).

I did a searcfh for 'blinking orange light' in the Got a Question field.

The Wi-Fi indicator light gives information about the status of the printer.
NOTE: Most wireless communication issues are a result of the following:
  • RF interference or wireless signal quality.
  • System of software firewall applications blocking crucial Lexmark software and ports.
  • The router has been reset. A different or new SSID(network name) and passphrase on the router creates a mismatch to those originally configured on the printer. You will need these router settings to reconfigure the printer using the included Setup Utility or Setup Assistant.
  • The printer has been turned OFF for period.
Use the table below to help determine your printer's current status, and refer to the linked articles for additional assistance.

I have a Toshiba computer with an AR5007EG wireless adaptor. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S7404. The ConfigFree software says that the router switch is off, but I have physically verified that...

  • Hi, to verify the "Communication Switch" is on. Go to the "All Programs," select (Toshiba) from the menu, open the "Utilities" program and click on the Toshiba Assist. Next, click on the Toshiba Hardware icon; the next window will open with the Toshiba (HWSetup), check the "Wireless Communication Switch," to make sure its (ON). "I suggest restarting the Computer, after you have applied the changes; the Systems Configuration will be more successful that way. "Rating the solution will let me know if this was helpful to you, and that the problem has been fix!"

Modem router light blinking (no wireless connection) F5D8631-4

Try restoring the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and pressing the RESET button on the back of the Belkin for 7 secs. Then connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Belkin, open IE browser and type the configuration IP address and configure the wireless settings ie. SSID, encryption etc. The computer wireless cards will need to be configured with the Belkin wireless settings to allow them to communicate with the Belkin.
