Hello,
First I'd like you to unplug the dryer from the wall socket. Now you don't list the dryer you are using. Some have a little more detail to them to get the lid off. So I will list all possible steps and then you use them as they apply.

  1. If your dryer has a kick plate remove it with a screwdriver and remove the screws in there.
  2. Remove the vent from the back of the dryer.
  3. Take the lint trap out of the dryer (if on top) and remove the two screws from inside where the lint trap is.
  4. Next take a putty knife and from the side of the dryer lift up and release the clip in there.
  5. Do the same step this time on the opposite side of the dryer.
  6. Next you want to rotate the lid/panel of the dryer back towards the back of the dryer and unplug the wires for the door switches
  7. Remove the screws along the inside edge of the front panel.
  8. Pull the panel towards you and move it to the side, it should be free now.
  9. Make a diagram of how the belt is so you can replace it exactly the same.
  10. Now you can reach in under under the dryer and release the tension on that tension pulley (idler arm)
  11. Pull the belt off and remove it and remove the tub at the same time.
  12. Remove the idler pulley by squeezing and sliding it out from under the hooks that hold it in place.
  13. Now slide the new idler pulley and arm into place ( sold as a single unit, they are not sold separately)
  14. Reverse the procedure to reassemble.

1. Open unit as if you were loading a disc.
2. Locate laser lens and sliding lens assy.
3. Take a non-conductive material (wood, plastic) and try moving the laser assy. along the track.
NOTE: you may have to be a bit heavy-handed to make the laser assy. move.
4. Move it in one direction but only far enough to free the jammed laser mechanism
5. Reinstall a DVD and press "play"

Remove the cover of LVW and access the DVD assy, unscrew the 4 screws holding the DVD assy to the LVW bottom, remove the top and bottom shield (also 4 screws)and remove the top black plastic cover (4 screws). You will access the DVD spindle.Remove the disk if you still have a disk stuck inside.Visually check the spindle sticky rubber ring, most likely some sticky material migrated on top of the rubber ring and your DVD was stuck on it. Clean the best you can with a cleaner and a non lint cloth.I used a cleaner/degreaser for electronics.DO NOT POWER your LVW BEFORE reinstalling the black plastic cover. There is a laser inside !!! You may now try and if the drawer opens and closes, reassemble everything opposite way you disassembled.

The tower of the washing machine isnt spining, but the base of the tower is.

The "tower" that you are referring to I assume is the agitator. If your agitator isn't moving, the agitator dogs (or teeth you mentioned) are the general suspect. They are made of plastic and typically wear out. The heavier the use, the quicker they wear out. If the teeth on the inside wall of the agitator are still in good shape, the dogs can be replaced without replacing the entire agitator and can be purchased at most appliance parts stores for less than $10. I hope this helps.

Where is the agitator in a Indesit WG1385

Open machine's rear panel and remove belt. Check if motor spins (when it should, as per cycle stage). If motor is spining - Move tub manually and check for smooth spin In case it doesn't spin smoothly - maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub and prevent tub's spining. If this is the situation, you should remove it. In case motor doesn't spin- Check with multi-meter if it get power. If it get power - The problem is with the motor. Good luck !!

My washer does not wash the clothes or go through the spin cycle.

It sound like a belt problem. Try to move tub manually first, in case it move smoothly -open the front panel, the belt should be between the motor and the drive pulley (lower front). In case it torn or not in its place, you should replace it. In case it doesn't move smoothly - maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub and prevent tub's spining. If this is the situation, it should be removed. Good luck !!
