The water does not appear to be heating and the dishes, mostly the plastics are still wet. No steam comes from the unit when I open the door. How do I enter the test mode? This unit only has a couple of buttons on the top edge of the door, on/off, menu/ok, (-), (+), Start

My dishwasher was purchased on 5Oct2007 and installed 20Oct2007. So is outside the 2 year warranty, but inside the 5 year warranty. Is the method for turning on a "test" or "troubleshooting" mode from the control panel? I would think that it can run through a diagnostic check to tell me if there are any faults.

Also, if the heating coils fail or there is a control unit failure, wouldn't it display a message???

  • whcaswell Mar 24, 2011

were you able to find out how to run the diagnostic test?

  • whcaswell Mar 24, 2011

I removed the kick plate and did not find any information pertaining to test procedures. My manual is less than useless. At this point, I am stuck.

When the water pumps into the dishwasher it goes through a heating chamber and small heat coils the chamber can quickly heat water to 161 degrees you would then locate the heating chamber and perform a continuity test on it as well as assure that the chamber is also receiving power the unit also has a 2 year warranty on any component that is defective and a 5 year warranty on any part that is electronic is you unit still warrantied if it is do not attempt to repair unless you are authorized by bosch to do so or you would void your warranty here is also your manual for the machine http://www.ajmadison.com/ajmadison/itemdocs/9000220400Use&Care_English.pdf which shows on page 10 and 11 how to go through the setting menu I await your reply to find out if this unit is still under warranty Thanks Rick
p.s these warranties exclude there labor rate

i also see another previous post on this matter by another tech at this link http://www.fixya.com/support/t3602647-di... stating that it could also be the electronic control as well you would have to de-install you unit in order to test if it is the heat chamber or the electronic control I will await your reply as to the warranty Thanks Rick

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2011

no it wouldnt always give the error code message some units can have a problem situation arise and never give the actual fault conditon i would call directly to bosch though seeing how the unit is still within the 5 year warranty time period. This situation that you have is due to either the heat chamber or the electronic control being the issue why your water is not heating Personally i would lean towards the heat chamber being the problem area If you have any further questions message me back and i will answer them in the morning Thanks

Frigidaire diswasher not drying dishes properly

Make sure you have the heated dry setting selected, use rinse aid at all times, and make sure the unit is getting hot. If it is not, or there is no steam generated when you open the unit after cycle - have a professional diagnose the heating element.

I've had the heater element replaced, but the water still is not getting hot.

If the heating element is fine then the problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

Just got a new Bosch dishwasher (forget which model). After the dishwashing cycle has ended (even long after), the dishwasher and dishes are still wet. Was this an installation problem? Thanks

Hi -
I can't see how any installation problem would cause this - if the dishes are still wet at the end of the cycle, you'll probably find the water isn't heating during the wash cycle. The dishwasher uses steam to heat the washing compartment and dry the dishes. It would appear that the dishwasher isn't heating water internally.
Even if the washer was accidentally connected to the cold water supply ** (see note), this shouldn't happen as regardless of the water supply temperature, the washer should still heat the water to the correct temperature internally.
** UK dishwashers should be connected to the cold water supply. For US installations, dishwashers are commonly connected to the hot water supply. For other locations, please consult your installation instructions.
I suggest you start a regular wash cycle and leave it to run for 10-15 minutes. Then open the door and test the temperature of the water in the base of the washer by hand. The water should be hot and there should be steam present in the washer when you open the door.
If the water is cold or only warm, the water isn't being heated internally or isn't heating to the correct temperature, in which case you should contact the retailer or Bosch Service immediately for a replacement. Do not accept an offer of repair on a brand new washer!
Additionally, do not attempt to repair the dishwasher yourself when under warrantly as this will invalidate the warranty.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know your location and the model number of the washer. This should be laser-etched into the top of the door if you can't find it on any of your paperwork.
Regards, BElectric

The dishes are pretty wet as is the inside of the dishwasher after a regular run. will a rinse agent fix this?

Rinse aid will help. The Bosch dishwasher uses the captured heat from the water to dry the dishes.turn on your dishwasher ,wait 20 mins and open door .Does steam come out?if yes rinse aid should do trick,if not water is not heating and you probably have a bad e.control (common problem)est repair cost in Boston area $229.. Hope this helps ,please rate my response :)

Kenmore Quiet Guard

You dont really need it, when the washer gets done Open the door for a minute and let the steam out and shut the door dishes will then dry. the reason there still wet is because of the steam from the Hot water

Wet dishes; steam does not escape

Hi, Most dishwashers do not have steam vents! there are several reasons for poor drying in a d/washer! The first one is to see that you have rinse aid in the machine as this aids drying! Next if you have rinse aid then is it being put into the machine when it needs it? Also you must bear in mind that the dishwasher need to heat on the last rinse to create the heat to dry the items which use the steam to dry them. Check the rinse aid first and see how you get on....
Let me know.......

Water not hot

Dishwashers are suppose to be hooked up to hot water. If you had hotter water it would clean just fine. 120 deg or more!
