Question about Refrigerators
Pretty simple fix. Your ice maker is it's own boss. It calls for water to be added after each harvest cycle. It and it alone. You have 4 things that could be wrong. Bad ice maker, bad water valve, bad water filter, and dirty condenser coils. The ice maker has a thermostat in it that calls for harvest. When that thermostat closes it powers up the motor and heater. Since the heater requires the most shocktricity to operate the motor will barely move. However as the ice melts the motor will gain ground until the main drive wheel rotates past a certain point and the heater is disengaged from the circuit, then the motor travels on around and dumps the ice. Near the very end of the harvest cycle a lever is tripped that powers the water valve for 7.5 seconds and fills the mold. Logically you want to replace the cheapest component of the 2 (ice maker and water valve) first just to see if that fixes it. You need a new watervalve anyway if you install a new ice maker. If installing a water valve don't do it (after you have cleaned the coils and know the water filter is ok and you have paid the water bill) then you would replace the ice maker itself. If the ice mold is full of ice and won't harvest you have a bad ice maker. Good rule of thumb: If you can add some water to an empty ice mold and it kicks out a batch then you need a new water valve.
