SOURCE: I have an HP Photosmart C5280 all in one printer

Hi there,

First you have to check if you are using an HP original cartridge as this error can come from using replacement cartridges which have faulty contacts.

Make sure that the cartridges are properly installed and you have tried to take them off and re-seat them.

If the error persist after doing all these, please proceed on doing a "semi-full reset"

do a semi full reset, combo would be:

  1. "print photo" + "red eye removal" buttons pressed together.
  2. printer will not ask you to enter the combo.
  3. release the buttons you pressed then..
  4. press "red eye", "print photo", "red eye" in sequence
  5. scroll down or right until you find resets menu
  6. press ok
  7. scroll down or right until you find semi-full reset
  8. press ok
  9. your printer should turn off, wait for 3 minutes before turning the printer back on

This should clear the message if the cartridges are working fine. If not, consider yourself buying a new HP original cartridge as the one you have is deemed defective.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: the ink system has failed

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: HP 3210 Ink System Failure error code 0xc18a0307.

Solution To resolve the issue, use the following steps. Step one: Remove the cartridges

  1. Make sure that the product is turned on and then disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product.
  2. Open the product cover and remove the cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and wait for a message to insert the cartridges to appear on the control panel display.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  5. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for one minute.
Step two: Reinstall the cartridges
  1. Reconnect the power cord to the wall, reconnect the other end of the power cord to the product, and then turn on the product if it is not already on.
  2. Open the product cover and reinstall the cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and print a calibration page, if prompted.
  4. Print a self test report to make sure that the product can print.
  5. Reconnect the USB cable between the product and the computer.
  6. Try to print a document from an application on the computer.
Reset the HP All-in-One
  1. Turn off the HP All-in-One by pressing the On button.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and the back of the HP All-in-One and leave it unplugged for five (5) seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the HP All-in-One.
  4. Turn on the HP All-in-One by pressing the On button.
I f the issue has not been resolved, contact HP to review these troubleshooting steps and evaluate if the product needs to be serviced.

SOURCE: Print Cartridges Refer to documentation (No function works)

I was getting this same VERY unhelpful error and the only thing that solved it for me was to buy another genuine HP black cartridge (350XL). As soon as I put it in, it cleared the error and sprang to life. As a matter of interest, before this happened, the HP Toolbox utility was also saying that the old cartridge was nearly empty. So why on earth doesn't the printer tell you the same thing??? Come on HP - get your firmware sorted. Disappointed.

SOURCE: Having difficulty getting my HP photosmart 3310 to

Hi,

There are several special key combo for ex. 1-2-4 and 3-2-9 also 1-2-7 depending on the purpose of using it.

My suggestion would be,
Remove the cartridges,
Clean the golden ( electrical contacts ) with lint free cloth
Put the cartridges back and check if the error message disappears
If not,
Try the Full reset following these steps
Disconnect the power cord from back of printer ( while printer is on )
While holding the # and 6 button, connect the cord
( if you do this reset, the printer will loose all the memory it has stored like fax logs, will get disconnected from Wireless network )

The error message is likely due to a cartridge expiry date and certain printers do not accept such expired cartridges from present date. Try replacing such cartridge

It sounds like you have done everything to resolve the problem. I would try unistalling and reinstalling an updated driver for your operating system and printer:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&docname=c01887712&product=3204464&

If that does not resolve problem I would download and run the disgnostic utilty:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02575922&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&product=3204464

This should be able to walk you through a resolution.

Trust this is helpful. :)

Place the old cartridge back and see the result. If the printer prompt cartridge error or low innk, then the issue is with your new cartridges. replace or claim warranty
