Same results, came down in temp.but would not re-start on call from stat. It goes off on overload. I ohmed out windings and checked windings to case, seams O.K. Can you give me any advise? Asd2522wrb04 amana side by side refrigerator. clicks like it is coming on. then goes off. nothing freezes or cold. Why?

I believe what is happening here is a defective start relay and overload. Right now I would pull refrigerator away from the wall and unplug. Next remove the cover over the compressor feel top of the compressor and if it is not possible to keep your hand there from heat tells me the compressor is trying to start. Keep unplugged until replacing the Start Relay Kit below. Most times the compressor that begins to do these symptoms can be fixed by replacing the=>

Compressor starts for about 4 sec and then goes down .... capacitors are new and start relay seems to be fine ohmed out and continuity .

its probably going off on the overload. get an ampmeter on there and see what the current draw is, your start relay may not be working properly even if it tests ok. try another relay or a hard start kit

Compressor not starting up just clicking in and out

The compressor, when unable to start goes off on overload, when the overload cools, the compressor tries to start again. A"hard start kit " which is a relay, capacitor and overload can be tried to get the compressor running

Neither the freezer or fridge get cold. In fact, both compartments are warmer the room temp. The light comedy on and you can hear it run but you can hear a click like the compressor is trying to kick on. ...

the clicking is the compressor overload tripping. you can try a relay kit part number RCO410 available at any appliance parts supplier. this replaces the relay, overload and start capacitor. you might want to check continuity on the compressor terminals first and check for a short to ground. If shorted or open then the compressor is bad.

I purchased a Whirlpool relay kit for my Maytag Skybo and I installed it. My problem is that I forgot where each wire goes into the relay. I don't which color goes where. Thanks for your help,

If your speaking of a compressor relay kit... The thermal overload connects to terminal 1 of the relay and terminal C of the compressor. Terminals 2 and 3 of the relay are the start and run wires. Terminal 2 is for the run winding and terminal 3 is for the start winding. You will know if you get these 2 backward as the compressor will not run at full speed or will not start. As long as your sure you have the thermal overload connected to terminal 1 and to terminal C of the compressor it is a matter of a brief test... and swapping the wires if you do not hear the compressor start or run at full speed.

Let me know how it goes.. just make sure if you do a test... and it is not right to pull the plug in under 30 seconds.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Maytag Performa Bottom Freezer, Compressor buzzing.

compressor pulling locked rotor. what your hearing is your current relay energizing. compressor goes off on internal overload protection and then tries to restart a few minutes later. unfortunately compressor needs to be replaced. sometimes a hard start relay will free rotor up. it can be purchased at a refrigeration supply house.

I have replaced a compressor in a maytag fridge model MBB2256GES and i have a blue wire and a white wire i know they go to the compressor and ther are three pins on the compressor what goes where

The start component assembly goes to the three pins. You have to have this assembly. Always shipped with a new compressor.

The 2 wires go the start kit, after it's installed onto the compressor. Doesn't matter how you use the blue and white wires. Just connect them to the relay start kit, where the old ones were.

Freezer thawed. Replaced temperature control, replaced defrost timer, replaced defrost thermostat. Compressor relay is cycling. No cooling still. Help!

Why were those parts changed? Was the compressor cycling on overload at the time?
If so, you should have first replaced the relay/overload combination and the see what happened.

Installing new over load relay

The line voltage goes to the overload and the neutral(and capacitor lines if it has one) goes to the relay.
