Question about Raypak SpaPak Spa & Hot Tub Electric Heate...

1 Answer

I've had my Raypak SpaPak (smaller model) for about 2 years. It seems like it doesn't seem to heat the water as hot as it used to - I need to turn the dial to a higher setting to bring the pool up to temperature (I keep it around 85 degrees). Do I need to clean anything or have elements replaced? My electric bills have been considerably higher and I wonder if it's because the heater may not be heating efficiently.

If you do not keep close watch on your water chemistry, depending on your location , you could have a large calcium build-up or salt build up on your electric heating element. Also, these models are meant for spas, and depending on the weather in your location, the heater might have trouble keeping up.

Check your high limit. This is the reset switch behind the rubber button on the face of the heater. It probally tripped during the process and didn't get reset.

Heater runs 5-10 minutes then blows the breaker

After raising the water level in the pool I had no results. I bypassed the pressure switch and nothing happened so it was not the switch. Then I turned on the current for a few minutes, this moved something as it works now. So I conclude that the problem came from letting my water level get a little low.
