Question about Elgin Watches

1 Answer

My husband bought me a elgin watch from walmart for christmas. I put it on and pulled the stem to set the time and when I pushed stem back in nothing happened. I also noticed that some of the crystalswere missing. I returned to walmart and they told me to call 888-667-9476 and they would give me an address to return the watch and get a replacement. I have called this number several times and left messages but no one will call me back. I really love the watch but am very disapointed with walmart and this phone nbr they provided. I don't understand why walmart cannot replace,as they still have in stock, and they can send back to elgin. Pls reply.

Walmart has an over the counter replacement policy for up to one year. I would demand to see the manager because they are responsible for making things right, the last thing they want is a customer openly complaining about their products and exposing the general public to the bad service they have provided you, where this could have been taken of with an exchange.

I need to change the date

Changing the date for the FT500WVB watch is easy. Just pull out the stem of the watch to its first stop. Then turn the stem counter clockwise a couple of twists and the displayed date will increment (that is increase) by one day and you will hear a little click. Keep twisting the stem counterclockwise and the date will increase by one each time with a little click. Stop when you reach the correct date and push the stem back in to its fully seated rest position. Note- be careful not to change the date when the watch displays a time between 9pm and 1 am as setting the date in this time range may cause the watch to increment the date at noon rather than midnight.

Note also that if you want to set the time you just pull out the stem to its second stop position and twist the stem to advance the position of the hands of the watch. Then when the time is set, push the stem back in to its lowest rest position. So remember- first stem stop sets the date and second stem stop sets the time. That's it.

Westclox model LTX271 instructions for setting day

mcdevito75 here, The stem on your westclox has 2 positions, First pull the stem out to set the time of day, keep cycleing the watch until you come to 1 day before the day you want. NOW! push the stem back in. NOW! slip a finger nail just under the crown and gently, gently kift the crown to it"s first position, it may take a little practice so be patient, once in it's first position you can change the DATE easily, change the DATE to 1 DATE before the DA you want, push the syem back in and pull the stem back out and set the day/date and time of day. Your watch is set and will change on time a little past mid nite.

I bought a Park Lane Ladies watch on ebay it says quartz and was described in working condition i set the time pushed the pin in and nothing how do I get this to work

mcdevito75 here, If when you recieved the watch from ebay you had to push the crown in to get it going, we can assume a battery wa sin the watch, thus pushing in the stem (pin) should activate or start the watch. The battery could have gotton loose during shipping, Try pulling out the stem turning the hands as though to set the time, push the stem back in and see if the watch starts, if not, visit a small watch repair shop in your area for possibly a new battery.

Sounds like a broken main spring.

This is a fairly easy fix and may also be due for a cleaning and service.

Find a local repairman in your area.

Need instruction manuel for elgin fg010-007 sports watch

The movement in this Elgin is made by Citizen. After you change the battery, you need to reset the hands so that the watch functions properly. Select chronograph function with lower-right button. Then pull-out the same button. Push the upper left button to select the UTC, hour, and minute hands. Then use lower-left and upper-right buttons to make sure everything is aligned to 12:00 position. After setting the hands to 12:00, push in lower right button. Now you can set the time by selecting the SET using the lower right button. Pull out the same button and choose your time zone to set.

Not running

look for a tiny, clear plastic spacer washer on the stem and remove it. this is just thick enough to prevent the stem from being pushed all the way in. this is factory placed to prevent inadvertent turn on during shipping.
