The computer beeps if there is a computer components or a device that is not detected or having a trouble. So in that case you have to open your system unit or they called it as cpu, Before handling any computer component or device you must discharge electro discharge that presents in your hand or body. Hold the computer casing chassis for about 1 minute and you may hold the computer component after discharging. Unscrew the video card and unplug same with your system ram or memory. Clean the video card and memory by brushing and vacuuming so that the dust will remove and to clean the slot. Clean the video card and memory pin only using a hard eraser to its pin and brush the pin to remove the dust. After cleaning put it back altogether and turn on your computer to test your computer. Have a nice day.

My iomega external hard drive just beeps when ever i turn it on. How can I fix this?

ummm, i fixed my problem i had with a iomega 500gb external hard drive, it was beeping at me also, so what i did was i knocked it on its side, switched it off, by its own panel, then switched it back on, it came back into life and was recognised again!!

so try it with yours!

I think what what happens is, when you accidentally drop it, or knock it from time time(accidentally), the needle inside the hard drive goes out of place, and the hard drive will beep, or something to that effect. knocking the case itself again, might fix the problem, or maybe not, thats if the hard drive itself is more severely/inherentally faulty.

Disk spins ...then I hear a beep...icon does not show up

The hard disk or the adapter case maybe faulty.
To test the hard disk, remove it form the Iomega case and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and plug it into a computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK, then the Iomega adapter case is faulty.
Then you need a new hard drive adapter case, it doesn't need to be an Iomega brand.

Your USB port does not have enough power to support the drive. You will need to use an external power source or try a firewire cable if the drive has that option.Travis Cable
