I know it is 8 years old but I like it. However when I've done a wash load it won't empty - is there anything I can do, need to look at?

There is a lint trap ahead of your pump they clog you must remove the pump and clean it . two bolts and two hose clamps.

Need to have a look at your pump and if it has a trap get a bucket and open it to clean it out. If not being eight years old I would replace it. Repairclinic.com can give some good photos.

Washer won't agitate with clothes in. Will agitate when empty with water

It's a whirlpool top load and 17 years old.
I checked the lid switch, water level switch and they are okay. I replaced the motor coupling. The old one was chewed up and crumbling.
When I put everything back together and turned it on to check if it would spin, I heard a buzzing sound and after a few minutes there was a burning smell.
What should I check to diagnose this problem? would help to have make or model numbers to show age of machine

Yank that dispenser off the top of the agitator and wash some clothes without it.

I have a Whirlpool Duet. It is about 8 years old and used heavily (family of 8). It started making a really loud noise during the spin cycle. There is also some type of material peeling/crumbling off down...

Hi,
The load noise is most likely the main bearing. What does the peeling crumbling material look like? It may just be soap scum/mildew or something. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Washing Machine won't empty water during the cycle

does the timer advance by itself? if not the problem is your timer not advancing through the cycles. if timer does advance then being 14 1/2 years old it could be the motor. start the washer and mark the beggining where the timer starts. whatch it to see if it moves if not then you need to replace your timer
