SOURCE: Fridge too cold

There is a damper motor that is behind the vent where you feel the cold air coming out in the fridge section.  That damper should open and close after making temp. adjustments.  See if you can look in the vent and see if it is wide open.  Set your freezer on the coldest setting and check this vent again an hour or so later.  If it is still wide open then that damper motor is bad.  Let me know if you find something different or have any questions.

Your "freezer" and "refridgerator" temps are not jumping back to 14 and 44 respectively. When you change temps, they both wait 3-5 seconds before they revert back to a temp reading, not a temp setting.

Does your "freezer" make any loud or thumping noises? If not, do you hear a quiet whisper when both compartment doors are closed?

Solutions could be :
1. Servicing the coolant (might have a small leak)
2. Checking the seal on your freezer compartment (black rubber that meets the metal frame)
3. Your internal cooling fan is not operating and needs replacing (but I think your temps would be significantly higher).

Best of luck.

Temperature control in fridge is turned all the way down but still too cold-25*, freezer=10*. What can i do? Amana SZD27ME side by side

Turning down the dial is not recommended as it does not turn the temperature down. Please return it the factory setting. If your temperature is too cold in the fridge, it may be the timer or thermostat. If it its in the freezer, it's the thermostat. If it both, you have a bigger problem, such as the compressor may be malfunctioning.

Fridge too warm

It is likely to be either the circulation fan in the freezer or the defrost element. The cold air is blown from the freezer into the fridge if the fan doesn't work then no cold in fridge( actually I think there are 2 fans in these, 1 horizontal 1 vertical) otherwise it could be a defrost problem, if the element doesn't work the rear fills up with ice and the air cant flow. Both are behind the rear panel of the freezer

My wife posted the information below and I would like to add more to the story: We have two identical Amana Bottom Freezer Refrigerators, Model:BRD18V2S installed in our Kitchen. Both fridges are in an alcove and stand next to each other. One fridge is used as the beverage fridge and othe other is used as a food fridge. At about 10pm she noticed that an entire bottle (600ml) of Gin had cracked and emptied into the refrigerator section of the fridge used for beverages. We do not know how long the spilled gin was in the fridge. She mopped it up and we went to bed. At 7am the next morning, the beverage fridge and its freezer were showing 71 Degrees F. and everythind including the ice had melted. (We have aftermarket external temperature gages that show the fridge/freesor temperatures) The food fridge uninvolved with the gin spill was reading 68 Degrees F

Fridge too cold.Freezer OK.

You probably have an issue with one of the following:

* temperature control assembly (controls freezer and/or fresh food temperatures)
* damper assembly (allows air from freezer to fresh food compartment)

I recently purchased a home. The kitchen has a

Firstly, the thermostats are usually calibrated at one elevation and where the fridge ends up may be above or below that so the number settings on the dial aren't that relevant. You should adjust the thermostat in increments then check the temperature after 24 hours, then adjust again if necessary. The fridge should be as close to 40 degrees F. as possible and the freezer about 26 degrees F. (if memory serves me). The heat you detected is the unit in defrost cycle and should be considered normal if intermittent and a problem if constant. There should be a switch to turn off and on the defrost feature if you determine it's a problem.
I hope this helps you and good luck.
