Question about Tascam DP01 All-In-One Recording Package Microphone

1 Answer

Recently purchased a tascam dp01fx, i owned one for years and used it extensively until a few months ago, so im pretty good at using it. open this new box, plug in my instruments, and the machine wont register them! not on the screen meters, not in playback- as if nothing was plugged in. I've chaceked the knobs on the instruments, the input knobs on the recorder, ive made sure the gate option is off, and ive checked all my cords, all in multiple combinations. Is my unit busted? (again, used one for a while so its not a matter of arming the tracks, etc... neither of the mic lines or the two 1/4 inch jacks respond to anything i plug in them(.

It was Used, on Ebay. The screen doesnt display a message (or else I would look it up in the manuel myself, sans paying $16). The problem is that I have tried plugging into each input jack and the screen does not indicate that sound is coming in (there is a bar that should show how great the inputs signal in). The unit seems to function fine, except that for all intents and purposes none of the jacks on front work. Ive read the manuel several times and used this model extensively, and researched my problem, so I am looking for actual advice. Could I be overlooking anything? Could it be a fuse, and if so how would i fix that? OK

No the screen is fine; the input jacks aren't receiving signals. What might affect this, besides obvious steps in operating the device? Should I try to return the product, or is this something I might be able to fix or troubleshoot with more effort? Im used to this model and do not want to have to replace it.

Thank you, you've been very helpful (though- and im sure youre sick of hearing this- not so easy to understand). Im assuming my best bet is to try and return it; ive looked at those schematics and they scare the heck outta me! Thanks for helping me knucklehead through this.

Tascam DP-01; DP-01FX and DP-01FX-CD has the same user manaul and I've it with me. You indicates that the piece you bought is a used one too. Anyway its display should light; atleast its backlight. If nothing comes displays in it, there should be a secondary valtage failure inside your Tascam. It may have a repaired one. So we cant know what components have been replaced or so. If the interface IC inside had got faulty this kind of trouble can be occur. Anyway, this is not a fuse problem. According to your description, I understands that, there is nothing displaye in its screen. If so. display driver section should be diagonised. Some sort of loose contact also may occur in between socketed wire contacts. these are the common problems comes with Teac. OK.

    Hello

The Tascam you have bought recently might have some fault. You have previous experience in operating this brand also, so you might not be wrong. There is input switching control [It is an IC] inside it, and it is reponsible to switch over the signals in to it; whatever may we give and select. It is controlled by the main system contro IC, to which we gives commands in the form of button presses. I think you will get its complications. Your set is a hybrid type one, that is , it uses both digital and analogue controls. The schematic diagram of this set has not been came out till now. Whoever takes repair of this set have to go an assumption and proceed. Your set has a troubled one I thinks. The party who who used it earlier, may have repaired it. If so, we can't aware of what his technican had done in it, and which parts have been replaced, and so on.

So lefts this for your determination. OK.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

It's kinda odd for a replacement part to break so easily. I strongly suggest that you take it in to the dealership and ask if this is a common problem on this car. If few people have the same problem report then it may be considered as a recall.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

TRANSFERING OLD TRACKS TO THE NEW TASCAM 2488-NEO

You'll need your PC as the intermediary. You'll have to do a USB export of the tracks you want from the DP01 to your PC and then connect the 2488's USB to the PC and do a USB import of those tracks into new tracks on the 2488.

Page 40 of the DP01FX manual will explain using the USB connection and page 43 details the steps for performing a USB export.

In the 2488 NEO manual refer to pages 80 and 81 for using the USB connection and importing the tracks.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Stuck tape in Tascam Porta One

It sounds like the rubber belt drive may have broken and tangeled in the drive mechanism. If you are confident you can disassemble it far enough to see if thats what happened. You can still obtain replacement belts. If not from Tascam, then try a good electronics store. Take the belt in and they can help you match it up. Thers also a possibility that your pause mechanism id stuck.

Tascam DM-24 Digital Mixer Problem

I purchased a used Tascam DM-24 mixer about 2 years ago, and it 's been running great. Just about 2 months, it frequently shut itself off with a message:
" Power Supply voltage (+5V) is too low for stable operation. Please restart DM-24".
Of course, many attempts of restarting the board, but it won't turn back on after several hours later, and only lasts about half a day work only. Very frustrating. Any idea I could get help or fixed? million thanks for suggestions. Brian
