Turntable comes on when plugged in but stops when record is cued, should work the other way around

When the arm moves it pushes on a contact switch. It seems that this contact switch is simply out of place, so needs adjusting.

Sony turntable ps-lx250h won't stop turning it has to be unpluged. what do i do?

When the arm moves it contacts a switch which should start and stop the motor. Clearly this switch has broken and the contacts are now in the on position.

Stop spinning

If it used to start spinning when the arm was move towards the record, then it's likely that the arm is connected to a switch which is now faulty and the contacts have closed and wont open. You might be able to get to it from underneath the deck. It might have just gone out of shape and could be bent back.

Hi, I've had this turntable for about 10 years. I have moved a few times and this may be the cause. The problem is that the platter starts spinning once the unit is plugged in. It won't stop until its...

I suspect that you might have dislodged some of the mechanical parts in the move. Or something plastic has broken. The only cause of action is to remove the bottom of it and look around it.

Turntable won't stop spining

If it is a turnatable that starts spining when the arm is moved to the record, then more than likely the start/stop switch inside the turnable is broken and is fixed in the on position. Or the leaver mechanism has become detached from the arm when the record was playing and left the other part pressing on the same switch that turns the motor on or off.
Removing the bottom of the turntable should should show the trouble.

I have just bought 2 1200 mk2 ,the seller has told me the start/stop buttons where powered by a mixer and will either need to be reconnected this way or reconfigured is this a problem??

who ever told you that is a ****, start n stop are tied into the power of the turntables motor etc. if you plug the turntable in turn it on n hit start. it should start. if not who ever sold it to you made a BS lie to get rid of them cause the motor was burnt out. start n stop have nothing to do with the mixer what so ever. so try just hooking up the turntable and turn the power on. see if anything lights up then his the start button and see if the platter starts to move if not its your motor.
