The blue screen appears when you lose the video input to the video processing circuits.

you have either lost input from the source or the tuner has failed.

Try giving input from a dvd player into the video input and see if you get a picture. If you do, the video processors are working ok and you have lost the signal upstream somewhere.

You must first determine if the trouble is external to the tv or internal to it. Check your cabling and connections carefully, go into the osd and make sure you have all the settings proper (see if it has been put on parental lockout or such thing).

Hi,

Often, a blue screen is an indication of "video mute" indicating that there is no usable video signal coming into the unit. Initially, pls check:

  • are the other controls (volume, channel, mute and others) still function;
  • any other issues other than just the blue screen;
  • does it power on/off normally (remote/front paneL0;
  • are all the cables and connectors plug where they should be?
  • have you likewise check the cable box, DVD or any of the sources including the cable itself?
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back on the make and model, as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    Appreciate the postback.

    This then would require that the video sources to be checked. You could of course try another video source such as an old VCR or another DVD.

    If problem persists with alternative video source, then it would be the TV unit itself. Further diagnosis then would require familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, use of a DVM and perhaps even a soldering iron. Access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings would be of great help. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself) then perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

    The screen goes blue when you lose the video input to the video
    processing circuits. So, you have either lost input from the source or
    the tuner has failed.

    Try feeding a signal from a dvd player into the video input and see if
    you get a picture. If you do, the video processors are working ok
    and you have lost the signal upstream somewhere.

    internal to it. Check your cabling and connections carefully, go into
    the osd and make sure you have all the settings proper (see if it has
    been put on parental lockout or such thing).

    Let me know if you need more help.

MITSUBISHI WS55809 Blue Screen

I'm not clear on this. When does it show a blue screen? When you have it in HDTV mode? A Blue Screen means it's not getting a signal (or the signal is very weak, resulting in more static than picture). If it is a blue screen for HDTV, how are you sure the HDTV receiver is working? If you can answer those questions for me, I should be able to track down the problem. I'm not sure which direction to go yet.

BLUE SPOTS ON SCREEN

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSoD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is a colloquialism used for the error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error that can cause the system to shut down to prevent irreversible damage to the system's integrity.

Screen turns blue

You may have a bad blue picture tube but there is a way to deal with this first---This is a 2001 model and does not have a light engine---I did one of these with the same problem a week ago---the set has a black plastic block with six controls---three are Focus(red,green,blue) the other 3 controls are Screen controls(red, green, blue) Someone has to remove the entire piece on the front of the set below the screen(usually a plastic part) most of the time it is secured with 3 screws on either side of the set in the back; once you remove the screws the entire piece should pull out(pull from right to left(it will not fall off or come out easy--it is held in with several large plastic pegs) With it removed there is an inspection plate with 4 screws-----the screen/focus block is behind it.

You need to look very closely at the block to identify the focus versus screen controls----one row left to right will be marked Focus and the other row left to right will be marked screen------YOU need to locate the Blue Screen control(they are black like the block) With the set on(be careful) go to a video input with nothing connected---if you see a blue screen as well as the input number turn the BLUE SCREEN CONTROL SLOWLY TO THE LEFT UNTIL THE BLUE is gone.

If this cures the problem you may only be buying yourself some time----if the blue picture tube is bad sooner or later this trouble may return----I have seen sets where this was adjusted and the set worked for a year or more with no repeat of the trouble----replacing the blue tube would likely cost you 400 - 500 parts and labor.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you take a moment and give me a vote here.

TV screen Flashes blue and then shuts off.

When it flashes blue, are the flashes bright blue lines going across the screen with the picture in the background, if so, It sounds like the Blue tube or blue driver circuit is breaking down after a short period of time. If this is the case, the uPC that controls the set is detecting a large current drain on and is shutting the set off for protection, An engineers expert eye is required I`m afraid. Ian.

Horizontal blue lines with a slight blue wash in the screen

Hi,
Its because of Over Voltage of Screen (G2) to Blue CRT.
Take off front lower cover (speaker grill) and unscrew board. There you will need to find Focus Block mounted having 6 control knobs. 3 knobs are for Focus control and 3 are for Screen volts control. Find Blue Screen control knob and turn is Counter Click Wise slightly until bluish shade disappear on screen including few blue horizontal lines.
If you select AV input to adjust that will be fine as you do not need to wait for dark-scene.
