Hello,

Welcome to fixya.com we are here to try and help you with your nintendo Wii

This error message you are getting is indeed a error timeout that resulted in a mis configured access point or did not find a access point.

You might want to check your security settings in your router by accessing the router via browser using a computer at 192.168.1.1 putting in the user name and password as well.

You want to select 64 bit security encryption for your router so the Wii can understand it. Most AP's "acess points" use WPA or TSKIP witch the Wii might not see as use able.

You also want to make sure your access point is broadcasting as well.

if you need additional helps on this please respond with the type of router you have along with the model number.

Thanks for using fixya.com

regards,

If i have wireless internect, how do i link my wii with it?

Wireless Connection
1. On the Wii console's main menu, click on the 'Wii button' in the lower left corner.
2. This will take you to the settings screen. On this screen, click on 'Wii Settings'.
3. In the 'Wii System Settings', click on the blue arrow on the right to reach the second screen of options. On this screen, click the 'Internet' button.
4. Select 'Connection Settings'.
5. Select an open connection, indicated by 'None'.
6. Select 'Wireless Connection'.
7. Select 'Search for an Access Point'.
8. At this point, the Wii console will search for any identifiable Access Points nearby. Once this search has completed, you will be directed to choose the Access Point that you wish to connect to. Click 'OK' to display the list of available Access Points.
9. Select your Access Point from the list of available Access Points.
If your connection appears as a closed padlock, then the Access Point requires a security code or passphrase. The security code or passphrase can usually be found on the security tab of your wireless router settings.
If your connection signal appears yellow or red, the stability or strength of the connection is not optimal. If possible, remove any obstacles between the Wii console and the Access Point. I've also found that changing the channel on your router to channel 1 or channel 11 can sometimes help with singal stability and strength.
10. Click 'Save' followed by 'OK' to save your connection settings...
11. ...and select OK again to start an automatic connection test.
If the test succeeds, Internet Setup is complete and your Wii conosle is wirelessly connected!

Click the right arrow from the 2nd page of Wii System Settings.Click Wii System Update...click yes...it will test your connection for a few seconds...an update screen may quickly come up and tell you there is an update (whether or not your Wii actually needs one) Click Wii Menu to finish.

Getting the internet on

first you need to set up your Connection Settings under "Internet" in the System Settings Menu. Then you need to either "Search for an Access Point", in which your system will search for a nearby Wi-Fi hotspot, or choose "AOSS". When "Searching for an Access Point" turns up results, they'll be accompanied by a padlock icon that either shows as being locked (the WEP access code is needed) or unlocked (free access). If you're trying to set up access to an AOSS-compatable access point, then you'll need to press the AOSS button on the access point until it flashes.

I dont understand how to hook my wii up to the internet

Official Wii Wireless Internet Connection Guide
For those unsure of how to connect your Wii to the internet wirelessly using a wireless router, here is my step-by-step guide for getting online.

First you'll need a compatible wireless router that can be found by going to the following site: http://www.nintendowifi.com/

From there, select your country, which will then take you to the WiFi index page. On this page, mouse over TECH SUPPORT at the top and from the menu that drops down, click on ROUTER INFO. Near the top of the following page, under the words "I don't own a wireless router, help me find one!" there is a "click here" link, which will finally take you to Nintendo's wireless router rating page, which you can look through to either see if your router will work or if you don't have a router, which one to get. For reference, if you live in North America, here is the router rating page.
