How do I set a Compaq Presario SR1403WM back to Factory settings

Step 1:
While many problems with Compaq Presario computers can be solved by less drastic means, there are times when the best course of action is to set the computer back to its original factory default state. Issues with persistent viruses or spyware often require this drastic step, as do problems with a corrupt operating system. Learning how to restore your computer to its original state is an important troubleshooting tool.

Shut down your computer and restart it. Watch for the Compaq logo, then press the "F1" key to enter setup. Press the right arrow within setup to go to the Boot menu. Press the down arrow to access the "Boot Device Priority" option. Change the first boot device to CD-ROM by pressing the down arrow until "CD-ROM" is displayed. Eject the CD tray and place the recovery CD that came with your computer into the tray. If you do not have a recovery CD, you can order one directly from Hewlett Packard. Shut down and restart the computer. The Presario will automatically boot from the CD and begin the recovery process. Select the operating system your computer shipped with. Many Compaq recovery CDs support multiple operating systems, so be sure to choose the operating system your computer shipped with. Insert the operating system CD when prompted. Enter the license key for the operating system when prompted. The license key is typically found on a small tag located on the top or side of the computer.

What is the command prompt in the HP Pavilion a6037c Vista recovery partition that allow me to type the command to recover to the factory settings.

You can access the HP Recovery Manager software using the "F11" command during the boot-up process. The Recovery Manager is a preinstalled utility that can help you resolve issues on your computer system that affect its proper function, such as viruses, system errors or hardware corruption. Restore your computer only as a last resort, since all the files stored on the hard drive will be lost during the process. The restore process can also be helpful in wiping the computer clean before passing it along to another user.

Restart the computer. Press the "F11" key when the "BIOS" messages appear during the start-up process to open the "HP Recovery Manager." This step must be completed before Windows has a chance to load. Click "System Recovery" and click the "Next" button. Click "No" in the Microsoft Restore window that appears and click "Next." Click "Next" in the "System Recovery" window to initiate the restore process. The hard drives will be reformatted and the computer's software returned to the factory settings. Click "Finish" to restart the computer with the original operating condition in place.

Reset my desktop backc to the original settings

Remove any DVDs or CDs from the optical drives and then unplug all peripheral devices except for the keyboard and mouse.

Click the "Windows" button and then type "eMachines recovery management" into the search box. Click on "eMachines recovery management" in the results list and then click the "Restore" tab.
Click "Password Settings" and then type a new password into the text box.
Click "OK" and then click "Restore System to Factory Default".

Type the recovery password into the "Password" text box and then click "OK". Click "Next" To start the recovery process.

Click "Finish" and then wait for your computer to restart.
This procedure could take several minutes. Once your computer has restarted, you'll be prompted to create a new user account, enter the date and time and set up the internet settings.

or if you are running XP

If you set your machine back to eMachines factory settings, it might help you for a short while but if you don't have effective virus protection your problems will return in short order.

You should get rid of this virus with an effective virus remover.

You can run Bitdefender's free online scan which doesn't need to be downloaded http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

If you know when you got the virus, you can do a system restore to a time before the virus was on your system. This article tells you how to run it from safe mode http://bertk.mvps.org/html/safemode.html

Your best protection in general is a complete internet security suite such as Bitdefender or Norton internet security 2009.

If you need to totally rebuild your system and you don't have a recovery disk, contact eMachines to get one.

You might also try a Windows repair install if you have the operating system disk. Follow the directions here for XP http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepa...

Need to go back to factory settings i have a virus

To clear the virus, the first thing you need is to find the original discs (CD's) that came with your system.
Second, find a friend that knows how to re-install the OS and let that friend do it if you are not comfortable because it's a lengthy process and you will need to re-install all the original drivers too in order for your system to work properly.
Good Luck

I need to restore my computer to the factory settings. I have an HP PavillionDV5000 with Windows XP. When I open PC Recovery and select "PC Recovery", the computer automatically shuts down and...

After you've used your laptop for an extended period of time its hard drive may become filled with files you don't want or even infected with malicious virus programs downloaded from the Internet. If you don't want to go through the folders on your laptop and manually delete each unnecessary file you can restore the computer to its original factory settings instead. Restoring a laptop wipes out any existing data and entirely reinstalls the operating system.

1.Place the operating system recovery CD that came with your computer into the CD or DVD drive. Restart the computer.
2.Wait for the computer manufacturer's logo to pop up on the screen. Press the keyboard key that brings up the recovery menu, which is usually "F2," "F8," or "Ctrl" and "F11" pressed simultaneously.
3.Select the specific language you want the operating system to use from the menu at the top of the screen. Select "Next."
4.Choose the option labeled "PC Restore," "Repair Your Computer" or something similar. Click "Next."
5.Select "Restore" and then click "Enter" to start the process. Click "Restart" once the process has ended to boot the restored computer to its operating system.

I have a toshibe laptop and i have a virus and need to reboot it but i have no disc..how do i do it..regards...

Hi.

In some Toshiba's computers you can recover your system and reset it to the factory defaults. You will loose EVERYTHING I mean pictures, music, documents....

Try this if you still want to do it:

Power off your computer

Hold the zero key on your keybord and hold it while pressing your power on button.

Release keys when it powers up and you should see a recovery menu.

Choose "Restore original factory image" and follow the steps.

If you can't see the menu when you do the procedure, then you don't have the recovery option on your computer. You will need either a set of recovery disks or a Windows CD.

Hope this helps!

My computer wa attacked and i want to reformat or removed the virus, how

If you have the recovery disk or recovery partition, you can restore it to the factory original state. This will delete any programs or setting on your system.

If the CD works, try downloading on another computer
http://www.ubcd4win.com/

It will allow you to scan for viruses without booting windows from your hard disk.

I don't get paid for advice so if this answers your problem, I would appreciate 4 thumbs.
