In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.
open the back of the computer , remove plastic cover , there you will find a battery, Lithium (size of a quarter), discoonect the connection for 30 seconds , place it back
if no connection present, remove the battery (carefully) and place it back after 30 seconds
You can boot from XP cd. When prompted..press [R] this will launch recovery console. Choose your windows installation (typically by pressing [1] press return.. When prompted for password type chkdsk /r Press return..Windows will fix errors..type Exit and press return.. Let me know if that helps.
