Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I need to make the scanner available on the network, the printer is networked OK but can't seem to figure it out. Can you help

Need to know what printer and how it's hooked up.
For instance, if it's an all in one printer (epson or HP etc) and it's hooked up USB to one computer and shared across the network, you can't share the scan capability across the network.
What yu'd have to do is scan to the computer that it's hooked up to, placing the scans into a folder that is shared across the network so anybody can access it.

If it's a network capable scanner with it's own Ethernet connection, then the process can be vastly different, but the scan function should be sharable across the network.

you can buy a print server to connect to your printer to the network. however could you please list the printer type you have? some printers do not work over the network with a print server on mac.
the printer will still function as long as you got a phone line to it for faxes however some features like scanning will not work over the network.

CAN I HOOK MY PRINTER UP TO MY WIERLESS ROUTER AND MAKE THE PRINTER WIERLESS OR DO I NEED A SPECIAL PRINTER

Generic Answer

Depends ... Is yours a network ready printer (has a ethernet port and firmware to allow you to set a I.P.?)

Hook it to your router.

You may be interested in network management from Cisco ... Network Magic. Download evaluation copy free. Google it ... you can read the deal they offer there so I will not repeat it here.

I use the paid pro version and I love it. They do not provide Network Printer support per-ce but, your printer will show up on the network map and it will give you assistance is some areas.

I hope you find this generic answer helpful.

Setting up printer on home network

Because your printer is not either wireless or network capable, the only way to get the results you need is to purchase a usb print server, hook it to your router, set it up through it's management console, and if your router is wireless, you can hook up to your router and print to your printer with your desktop turned on or off.

You can buy an A/B switch (mechanical), share the printer on your network (if you have a network) or buy a print server (also requires a network).
