Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore Dryer (110.86180800) and it stops in mid cycle. I see no obstruction and I cleaned it in and out in case it is overheating. Once it stops it will not turn back on right away, Just have to wait a few min. and it makes a click and you can start it again. It will only work for 1-4 min. at a time.

I have a Frigidaire affinity dryer all I had was nothing bout problems and is fairlly new. when I set in one of the setting and click option to wrinkel release. the dryer gets hot and it spins but the...

Patricia, we apologize that you have had such challenges with your Frigidaire Affinity Dryer. I would suggest double-checking a few things. First, let's check the lint filter area. Let's ensure that there is no thick lint or lint residue. The next item we need to check is the ducting that leads outside, and outside where the ducting exits, to make sure that nothing is clogged with lint or any other obstructions.

If the air flow is being blocked, this could cause your dryer to take a long time to dry or stop mid-cycle. If this is the case, it could potentially cause overheating, which could cause the dryer to stop mid-cycle as a safety precaution.

If you find that there are no blockages or lint residue, you have additional options: First, ask your repairman to contact the manufacturer while diagnosing your dryer to check and double-check that nothing has been overseen in regards to resolving these issues. Secondly, you are always welcome to contact the manufacturer directly and see what other resolutions may be available to you.

-Best regards -

Dryer Model #DWXR483EG1WW turns off mid cycle (timed dry) Dryer will restart after 10 min or so but will shut off again shortly. Timer is advancing. Dryer technician suggested replacing timer. Advice?

It sounds like the technician is clueless on this one.

The first thing I would do is to remove the vent hose from the back of the dryer and try to run a cycle. It will heat up the room it's in but you will only need to do this once. If the dryer operates correctly you have a venting problem and need to clean the vent in your wall to make sure there are no obstructions and be careful not to kink the vent hose at all when it is reconnected.

If this does not fix your problem there is a chance that the motor is overheating and needs to be replaced. If you need further help just let me know.

You may be experiencing "Heat Retention" by stopping your dryer mid-cycle, which you should NOT ever have to do! If you have a minor vent restriction or if you open the dryer mid-cycle when the heat is on, this will cause a disruption in the airflow and rising temperatures can keep the dryer from restarting until it has been cooled long enough.
Check your vent all the way to the outside for restrictions/obstructions every 6 months. Clean your lint filter after each load and DO NOT stop the dryer mid-cycle!
Note: Stopping the dryer mid-cycle can also cause severe burns and even melt polyester fibers.

E1 comes on during mid cycle and stops the dryer from drying

replace the compressor "compressor relay and the compressor overload" that are on the side of the compressor.
location: should be in the back on the bottom behind the panel.
if you have a circuit board they may need to be replaced as well.

Gets warm but not hot enough.

Occaisionally this is due to either dryer being set to a 'delicate' or 'low' setting. Most frequently it's due to an obstruction in airflow so the heating coil is cycling off to prevent overheating. The vent at the back of your dryer should be cleaned out (by sucking out the lint with a vacumn hose) at least once a year. The vent pipe out of your house as well. Make sure that the flap on the outside of your house is opening and allowing free air circulation when the dryer is on. And make sure you clean your lint trap every time you use the dryer.
