Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello. I have a LG 47lg50-ua that when turned on, the right half of the screen goes white. The left half still plays fine. The warrenty had just expired so. I took the back of the tv off and looked around. I noticed that the top left ribbon cable (looking at the TV from the back) attached to the T-Con board (a CMO 35-D020223) had puffed up a bit. I took the bad ribbon cable out and put the good ribbon cable on the bad side. After the TV was turned on, the right side of the TV stayed white and wouldn't give a picture. I looked at the ribbon cable and it was beginning to puff up so I turned the tv off. I would like to know if the TV is fixable and if so, what parts I would need to fix the TV. Thank you very much, Joseph

If you changed the Ribbon cable and its still the same then the T-Con board would of probably gone faulty. Lots of weird screen problems can be accounted for the T-con board.

Hi, It also could be the inverter board(s) that have gone bad. Check them out. If the inverter board goes it will also turn the TV off.
These boards are on the left and right sides of the TV pannel.
Good Luck with your repairs.

LG 37LE5300 HAS HALF BLACK SCREEN

THIS set uses 2 boards inside--one drives the left and the other the right side of the screen.

You have to id which is which (GOOGLE?) AND replace it-every brand has different names for these but it sounds like your problem

Some research (you or me) should give a board breakdown for this model---not looking for main or power board but another like sustain etc. and there will be 2 listed (for right and the left sides)

A white screen with nothing else leads me to believe you have a problem with a t-con board or a signal board on that TV.

hello, yes it sounds like the ribbin connection the top screen (also video and power) may have a fine break on one of the fingers,

You can try find a broken one and repair it or bring to a games console repair agent.

you could also return it to the store if it is still under warrenty.

Hope this helps...
