My tv model magnavox26mf231d/37 shows hdmi is disabled and the hdcp authorization failure.

This could be a problem with the cable box or other set top box and not the TV. It's known to happen with Samsung cable boxes from Cablevision.

First try resetting the TV and set top box by unplugging both. Remove the HDMI cable from the TV and the set top box. Reconnect the HDMI cable. If you are using a Redmere or similar HDMI cable, make sure that the end labeled TV is connected to the TV's HDMI port. (These cables have additional electronics and are not reversible.) Connect the power cord to the set top box and wait 30 seconds to a minute. Then plug in the TV. To ensure the set top box does the correct handshake with the TV, turn on the TV first and set it to the HDMI input. Then turn on the set top box. See if this fixes the issue. (On some cable boxes, this can be a temporary fix. You may need to have the set top box replaced.)

If the above steps don't help, try a different HDMI cable. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the set top box is faulty.

I hope this helps.

Some TV's & cables are not HDCP compliant . Sometimes you can replace the cable to fix the problem & other times you have to replace the tv because its not HDCP compliant . First check to see if your tv is HDCP compliant .

HDCP is causing the trouble You experience. Try using other video input connection for same set. If it works fine that way, the problem is that the rights protection (HDCP) is acting as "police" to prevent copying or reproduce unauthorized content. If only the HDMI is connected (disconnect all other inputs/outputs) on some sets, could be work fine.

Through Sky+ HD when selecting the HDMI connection I get the following statement through Sky "This diplay does not support HDCP....." Any help please Rob

hi,

try to connect the set top box in any other HDMI input of ur tv. reason is bellow read it carefully.

p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; } HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection and was developed by ----------. It's nothing more than a security feature requiring compatibility between the sender and receiver, like HD cable set-top box and the TV. By compatibility, mean HDCP technology built into both devices.
Think of HDCP as a security license key like you would input when installing a computer program. Only this security key is invisible to you and me but not your TV.
It works by encrypting a digital signal with a key that requires authentication from the transmitting and receiving product. If authentication fails then the signal fails, which means no picture on the TV screen.

Buy a HDTV that has HDCP capabilities. Most will have this in at least one HDMI input but be sure to verify this before buying the TV.

Notice that "in at least one port." Not every HDMI port on the TV will be HDCP compliant so be sure to read your TV user manual if you plan on connecting a HDMI cable to your TV.

I have a VL470M and am trying to connect a LGBD570 Blu-Ray through HDMI. It works fine through the composite input, but the HDMI says "no signal". Am I doing something wrong?

There are two possible issues. 1) The resolutions are mismatched. (output of the player and input of the TV) 2) the player can not confirm that the TV supports HDCP over the HDMI connection. Only 3 of the 4 HDMI ports are HDCP (high def copy protection) compatible.

Try a different HDMI port and make sure that you have the input set to the correct HDMI port. (There is an input button on the side of the TV as well as on the remote.)

The easiest things to check are turn off the Blu-Ray player and then turn it on again. Then press the Home button and navigate to the Setup Menu. Select Display and press the right arrow button, then select Resolution and press Enter. Then set the desired resolution and press Enter to confirm the selection. (Your TV should support 1080p from the Blu-ray player.) Then turn off the player since changing the resolution can lead to video issues.

I hope this helps.

Hooking up ps3

To get 1080i (the 50V will not do 1080P) from the Blu ray player you do have to use HDMI output on the PS3 to the DVI input.

I found one at Walmart. Phillips makes an HDMI to DVI plug also at Wmart.

The PS3 must be set for the output you want on your TV.

Look in your manual in the PS3 box or go to http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/videooutput.html

The web site has much more detailed instructions, but the basic answer to your question is below.

  • The cable required to output a particular video mode may not be included with the product and additional purchases may be necessary. For details, refer to the documentation supplied with your system.
  • If the video output settings do not match those required for the TV in use, the screen may go blank when the resolution is changed. The screen should, however, automatically go back to its original resolution after a while. If the screen remains blank for more than 30 seconds, turn off the system. Then touch the power button on the system front for at least five seconds to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.
  • If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system.
  • Copyright-protected Blu-ray video discs can only output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP standard.

  • Hope that helps!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

HDMi ( no signal, not supported) doesn't work with Dmr-Ez47v

Any HDMI cable manufactured in the last couple of years should all be HDMI 1.1 compliant, your problem is most likely the logic board in the TV itself or the HDMI connector on the logic board has a bad connection..

Have you tried hooking-up a standard DB15 VGA cable to the AKAI TV and your laptop?

If this works your problem is in the TV and will most likely have to be repaired to receive the HDMI signal since your Panasonic DVR and your laptop are not recognized by the HDMI input on the TV.

    Good luck!
