This is due to a bad oven switch the actual piece that you use to turn on the oven these switches arch sometimes on the inside of them causeing them to stay open in which they are always on or stay closed in which it will not turn on at all replace the oven switch itself if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks for using fixya

it most likely is the thermostat which is in back it unplugs and replace. you can check with ohm meter. the other thing is the heating element which is the thick wire looking thing on the bottom it lifts up and unplugs to replace. You can check with ohm meter check resentence if nether is bad it has to be the switch on top the thing you turn to make everything go on or off easy unplug unfashion and replace. [ if no resistance on element or thermostat that is the problem then you know which one to replace ]

My Kenmore Model 790 oven when turned on to preheat will power on but the bottom element will not heat. Thus the top element comes on and stays on and will not turn off?? please help!!

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Check the power diodeThis electronic component is responsible for transmitting current in one direction. If the diode becomes defective it will cause your microwave to not heat. Test the diode and replace it if necessary.
  2. High voltage capacitorResponsible for storing electricity, this part is a key component in any microwave. Remove, discharge, and test the capacitor to determine if it requires replacement.
  3. Damaged magnetronResponsible for generating waves and producing heat. When your microwave is no longer heating properly, replacement will be required.
  4. Thermal CutoffsExamine the thermal cutoffs on both the magnetron and the oven itself. Take off one of the leads and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If you get a result other than zero, replace the thermal cutoffs.

Usually when the element fails to heat up, It means its usually broke, cracked, or where they plug in gets brittle and breaks. Your best bet is to replace the bottom element.

My lower oven is not heating properly, the bottom heating element is not getting hot.

You will have to test the element to be sure it is the problem. Turn power off to oven and then remove element. You will have to check with ohm meter. Remove wires before checking. If you don't have one, most appliance parts stores will check it for you. If element is burnt in two or has any rough, bubbled up places on it, then it needs to be replaced.

In all likelihood the Magnetron, or Power Diode has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

My refrigerator stopped working and will not come back on. It is a Jenn-Air Side by side purchased 4 years ago.

you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Welbilt MR961T starts automatically

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

Keypads are no longer available for these, so the oven should be replaced.
