Question about Philips Televison & Video

Open Question

Philips 37PFL5603D/10 tv, connected to Humax HDR-Fox T2 recorder. We do not have the HD signal yet, but due in June this year. Problem is with the HDMI connection, mostly does not work, sometimes green picture, no sound. Also does not switch automaticaly When box is switched on or off. Will only switch properly when a scart lead is also connected. You should not have to use a scart, when you have HDMI. We need the HDMI to cope with the new digital signal when it comes. Have switched Humax box off at mains, and asigned the tv to the HDMI 1 connector, sometimes works the first time, but fails soon after. What to do? Best regards, Pete.

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic Tx

Hi,

You didn't fully expain how each device is connected to the others. I don't think you have this set up correctly. Your DVD cannot record in HD so there is no point sending an HD signal to it - it can't process it. This is how I would set it up:

1. Install a 2-way splitter on the input cable
2. Connect output 1 from the splitter to the Humax receiver
3. Connect the Humax receiver to the TV with an HDMI cable
4. Connect output 2 from the splitter to the DVD
5. Connect the DVD to the TV with SCART cable.

This will enable you to watch HDTV via the digital receiver and also provide an input from source (dish/cable) to your DVD player so that you can record.

If you've already set it up this way then it should work. I suspect you've connected the Humax to the DVD and TV and also the DVD to the TV.

Please try this setup and post back if you need further assistance.

How do I get my humax fvp4000 box to store the recordings in alphabetic order. It currently has the last recording first on the list.

Having looked at the manual it doesn't look like there is any option to change it to that. It will simply list them in the order they were recorded. With the last first.

This device has a fan that will turn on when the temperature of the internal hard drive reaches a certain level. The problem may be due to a faulty sensor, fan or both. here's a forum for this hardware that may be of help: http://hummy.tv/forum/forums/hdr-fox-t2-freeview-recorder.13/

My Humax HDR will not output in widescreen display format! Worked perfectly before!

That is what always happens when something breaks... It would help if you had more info like was there a electrical storm, does everything else work, do the lights light up... I will say this; Most electrical appliance failures are due to no power. As in the switch in the surge protector was turned off when vacuuming the area, etc. So, check all the connections to the wall and then if these are good, by good I mean you replaced them with known working extensions and check the little ground fault button in every outlet too... then get back with more info.

How are you changing from recorded to TV? If you are switching the TV input, it could be because it's looking first for analogue TV stations but there are none any more, so it then reverts to the SCART and shows the Humax satellite station. If you are just pressing STOP on the Humax then you shouldn't have a problem, but if you do have the problem then the Humax must be faulty.
