Yes. I did use Chrome but I updated Internet Explorer last week but left Chrome as a default. Now Chrome and others are saying Web page not available and Chrome giving the Error 137 message. IE seems to be still working and I still receive my emails into Microsoft Outlook ok.

Another point - I installed System Mechanic on the computer yesterday and ran it through. It told me there were thousands of errors even though the computer is only about 6 weeks old. I usubsequently ninstalled System Mechanic. I then tried to do a system restore but the computer told me there were no earlier restore points.

  • Gordon Paton Mar 23, 2011

It said it fixed all the errors but this problem still exists. I assume I now get this right and then set a restore point.

  • Gordon Paton Mar 23, 2011

I clicked on the link you sent but it did not open as there was a message saying Activex not being permitted by browser.

I then downloaded C Cleaner on another computer and transferred via memory stick. Installed it and ran registry fix. Thre were 407 items needing repaired apparently mainly being related to Activex, Bit Defender Total Security and Microsoft Silverlight. The CCleaner fixed them all.

I have restarted the computer and tried to open Google Chrome. It crashed immediately. The notice saying it has stopped working has the problem signature APPCRASH with a fault module name ntdll.dll

Mozilla Firefox says server not found, and Opera says network problem - site currently unavailable.

Internet Explorer however still opens the various sites.

Just since yesterday. Its a new computer and I have deliberately not put anything on it that could cause problems.
Yesterday I installed system mechanic and ran it. It said it cleared about a thousand registry errors and I set it to carry out a full scan. It seemed to stall halfway through and I closed it using the Task manager. To be fair I have had occassions over th epast few weeks where Chrome said a program was not available so it might have been building up.
Your message cam eto my outlook / hotmail account and when I tried opening the link to this page - it crashed Internet Explorer as well. A box has come up saying Internet Explorer has stopped working. Problem details show - Problem Event Name APPCRASH
and a further box below says - Your web browser has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner.

I am using another computer to get your messages

  • Gordon Paton Mar 23, 2011

I use Bit Defender Total Security and it is up to date. I have just run a full scan and nothing was found.

When i opened your email from hotmail it got through to the Login stage but then stopped working. This time it said Problem Event Name - BEX Application Name is iexplore.exe

You have to set a restore point before you can go back to it. When System Mechanic scanned your PC was it able to fix any of these errors?

If your set a restore point now then in the future if you have another problem you can return to the settings you have now. You could try using a program called CCleaner. It repairs registry errors, you can download it here. Just click Download latest version on the right, it's about 2.89MB. Once you have download and installed it, open it and you'll get a screen like this:

What you need to do is go to Registry then click Scan for issues. Once it's finished scanning click Fix selected issues.

407 is quite alot. Has it just been recently that you havn't been able to use any other internet browser?

ActiveX is a framework for defining reusable software components in a programming language. It's like the java control that all web browsers use. It is used in most Microsoft applications such as Internet Explorer, Office, Windows Media player etc.

Now here is the part you'll want to hear: Malware, e.g. computer viruses and spyware, can be accidentally installed from malicious websites using ActiveX controls (drive-by downloads).

This APPCRASH you get within the error report you get, is Application Name: explorer.exe?

I suggest you make sure your Anti virus definitions are up-to-date, this may be an attack.

BEX Indicates a buffer overflow (/GS) or DEP exception (BEX64 indicates a buffer overflow (/GS) or DEP exception on 64-bit versions of Windows). It seems that as you are solving one error a new one pops up. From my point of view I think that some sort of malicious ware was accidently installed by ActivX. It then caused some system config damage and disappeared without a trace (maybe deleted by antivirus), however the damage still remains. To remove these irritating errors I suggest you do a quick back up of your important data and re-install Windows. This way you will definately solve the problem.

My facebook account is blocked

Do you mean blocked as in cannot log in? If so, try going to Facebook's account recovery page:
https://www.facebook.com/recover.php

It should help you if you have forgotten your username or password to log in, or if your account has been compromised.

If you meant you're unable to reach the site entirely, try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software (or put them into gaming mode), and see if this resolves the issue.

If you're still having problems after that, please respond with the version of your browser and Windows, any error messages you're receiving, and any other relevant information.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful, thanks.

Cannot login

Try using Facebook's account recovery page:
https://www.facebook.com/recover.php

That should help you recover your account if you've forgotten your login user name and password, or had your account hacked.

If that doesn't resolve your issue, try clicking the "I can't identify my account" link at the bottom of the page for more help.

If you are having non-account login issues with the site, try temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software (or put it in gaming mode). If this doesn't help, please comment with your browser and Windows version, any error messages you're receiving, and any other relevant information.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful, thanks.

Facebook login problems: Account Unavilible?

Hi,

Site Maintenance message usually means that Facebook is making an improvement to the database and after the maintenance is over, you will be able to login to your account without any problem.

Usually, this maintenance process takes just a few hours and affects only few users at a time.

If the "maintenance error" lasts longer than 24 hours and you are still unable to login to your account, kindly report the issue to Facebook Support by clicking this link.

Thanks for using FixYa.
