Question about Heating & Cooling
Hi, whenever this type of problem is exhibited, usually we suspect the thermostat itself, as this is what ultimately controls the fan.
It still maybe a sensor, (the ONLY way to tell is by substitution with a "Known Good") although it is doubtful, I would more suspect the actual "Brain" of the unit.
Of course it also may be the actual fan itself, but again unlikely, however it still must be tested, usually they are 12 V DC fans, and so can be tested with a battery, all we are looking for is that it actually rotates, and doesn't stop unless voltage removed.
The LCD "Fluttering" does indicate that there also? maybe a fault with the power supply? This too needs to be checked for AC ripple, as well as "other" potential issues with the PSU, as this is, also, what may cause the LCD to "Flutter".
To do any sort of DIY one simply must obtain a service manual for the unit. It is almost impossible to undertake repair work, without one,if only for the spare parts numbers required to obtain spare parts.
Usually, I recommend that one engage the services of a professional, this will ultimately save one time and money, and perhaps hours of frustration too?
What I usually advise is to ask for a "Quote" this way at the least one can then make an informed decision as to what to do, repair or replace, as often seemingly simple problems can turn into expensive repairs.
Customers often tell me that they would rather put any monies that were to be spent on repair towards a NEW unit, with a full warranty, as cost to repair can often be as much as a new unit?..
