Does a Dewalt 106 have a set screw?

Dewalt's DW106 does not have a set screw inside the keyless chuck to hold it on. This means the chuck was put on with enough lok-tite and torque to keep it on under most circumstances so getting it off will not be easy. If you're using the allen wrench-in-the-chuck method, give it a good firm whack until it breaks free.

How can I replace the keyless chuck on my Dewalt DWD215G?

Open the chuck wide open. In the center is a retaining screw, they usually have left hand threads. Remove the screw. Take an allen wrench1/4" to 3/8" in size and fasten the short side tightly in the chuck. The chucks are usually right hand thread, so take a small hammer and strike the allen wrench to turn the chuck to the left to loosen it. Once you have the chuck off, verify the thread size of the drill motor shaft, then go to McMaster-Carr and choose the one you need.

I have a dc 759 it has a plastic cover over the keyless chuck is stripped out.....can i just replace the plastic cover? .... if so how and where can i get one

If the drill is not too old, I would take it to your nearest factory dewalt repair shop. they have a good warranty on their items. If it is older you probably need to replace the chuck itself. You need to remove the plastic to get the chuck open and then there is a screw down inside the chuck that needs removed. The chuck should come right off and just reverse the process to install the new one.

How do I remove the screw holding the keyless chuck. Dewalt cordless 18v hammerdrill, I know it's reverse thread but it still will not come out. Is there a locking mechanism?

sometimes I have had to use an impact tool to shock the screw loose, what you might try is to tighten the chuck more and then remove. there is no locking mechanism that I know about. also I would recommend going to and downloading a manual/breakdown for this before starting.

How can I disassemble a Dewalt keyless cordless drill chuck? I mean take it apart, not just remove it.

depending on the chuck it would take special fixtures to press apart, and unless you are very good with tools you would damage it beyond repair. I have never taken a keyless apart and tried to repair and put together, I have on the other hand done the same with the keyed chucks.

Drill chuck swap

1. Turn the screw clockwise to take it out.
2. Then you needs 3/8 allen key & insert the short side of the allen key & tighten the chuck.
3. hold the drill at the edge of the table & wack the allen key
counter clockwise & do it again as needed.
4. dewalt keyless chuck will fit but you might add a washer to insure the chuck is not rubbing the clutch collar.
5. putting it back together the other way.
