I have not used this camcorder for some time but thought it may be useful to record family diary footage. Now, when I look through the lens viewfinder the vertical lines it tries to focus on become twisted. This occurs on auto lock or manual. Recordings are unusable. It has been suggested that it may be an electrical fault in the CCD?

hi bagirl.. yes of course if they use the exact same type of cassatte for recording . in other words u can take the casatte from 1 camera and play it on any camera in the world if they use the same type of cassatte.. if they use hard disk then the answer would be no...
You will have download your analog video to the computer by accessing the utility on the computer programs. Make sure you select the NTSC format on the computer then upload the video to DVD recording. If our camera has S-video output, use this for better resolution
Look for the output jacks on your camera, hook them to your computer's audio/video input. Try accessing the recording utility on the computer then upload footage through NTSC format. You can then edit the footage. If your camera and computer utilize S-video, use them for best resolution
Head alignment (re-aligning the tracks) is not something we as owners can undertake - it has to be done professionally.
You can however quite safely clean the heads by using one of the dry cleaning tapes sold for the purpose. I have used an 8mm/Hi-8 cleaning tape made by TDK for a number of years with good results. Remember that if your heads are dirty both recording and playback will be affected and once you have cleaned the heads you need to test the camera by recording new footage and then playing it back to see if matters have improved. Good Luck.
If u seeing image properly ( Blur image ). In main board or sub board some components will be leakage. This leakage will form, if the camera not use for a long time.
If the image is not clear then the CCD may be defective. For CCD failure SONY company will give u free service & spares for this camera model.
(only for CCD failure)
