Question about Dell 3130cn Color Laser Printer

Open Question

Dell 3130cn color laser has stopped printing from wireless laptop (Windows 7). We get the error message "Printer Busy or Error." Other computers still work with the printer. We've rebooted the router, turned printer on/off, updated the driver, checked the port and the printer can receive printer status updates, toner usage, etc., so it is communicating at some level. Any ideas?

I have seen that in most of the cases (with lexmark and dell printers) it is fixed by reinstalling the printer software. Be sure that you completely remove the older drivers using the cd or using add/remove programs.

you can do the following steps:

1.Check if the firewall is blocking any printer services

2.Check what port the printer is using (reenable the bi-directional support) and if it's on online mode

3.Disable all the firewalls

4.Uninstall the printer driver and software, then unplug the usb cable of the printer.

5.Delete any items under the ff keys:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-2

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet001\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-2

6.Delete any non default items under the ff keys:

7.Delete any items under the ff keys:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet001\Control\Print\Printers

8.Completely remove drivers by doing the ff: (Option for comm failure because of the upgrade from xp to vista)
Ensure there are no documents in queue.

Disconnect printer’s USB cable.

Click the Start pearl, then click All programs, Printers, Dell xxx (where “xxx” is the printer model number) and then Uninstall. Complete the uninstall utility.

From the start search box type spool and press .

The spool folder located at c:\windows\system32\spool opens.

Rename c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32X86 to c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\backup.

Rename c:\windows\system32\spool\prtprocs\W32X86 to c:\windows\system32\spool\prtprocs\backup.

9.Restart the computer.

10.Check th services status

Start-Run- Type Services.msc and Click on Open

You will see long list of services

You need to make sure following 4 Services are set to Automatically start

Remote Procedure Call RPC
Remote Procedure Call RPC Locater
LexBce Server
Print Spooler

11.Reinstall the latest printer driver

Fuser error usually means that the heater element has blown, or is not functioning properly.
The device will usually lock itself out to prevent any risk of overheating and causing a fire
You will need a technician to fix this

I know this sounds too simple, but get a new USB cord. I had the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy. I followed all the advice about uninstalling, reinstalling and updating multiple times and it never fixed the problem. Finally, my husband made the simple suggestion that maybe it was a problem with the connectivity of the USB cord. I didn't have much faith in it, but I bought a new USB cord and hooked it up - and I have never had a problem with the printer since then. My original USB cord (the one replaced) was the one that came with the Dell printer - perhaps there is a flaw in the cord somewhere. ?

But if the yellow toner cartridge doesn't run so there will jamming the paper and the printer shows the error (077-100).

Error code 093-921


If you are seeing any or all of these error codes on the Dell 3130cn Laser Pinter that there is a Firmware Update to address this issue. However, the firmware cannot be applied when there is an error present, so first try reseating all toners. You may need to repeat this several times before errors are cleared. Once error-free, download the Firmware from the Dell Support website and apply.

Reset the Cyan toner properly.

  1. Verify all packaging has been removed from the printer cartridge. This includes any tape or red handles. Also verify the toner cartridge is properly installed.
  2. Remove the toner cartridge and clean the toner housing of any excess toner with a clean dry cloth. Reseat the toner cartridge when finished cleaning.
  3. Check that all toners are Dell branded and not refills. Take note of all PPIDs (Serial Numbers). Check that all toners are for the correct model
    • If any toners are non Dell, swap with another toner
  4. Run diagnostics on the toner cartridge sensor.
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Hold down the and buttons on the printer and power the printer on.
    3. Release your fingers from the keys when the message Diagnosing... appears.
      Customer Mode and ESS Diag display.
    4. Press the button until IOT Diag appears and press the button.
      On the LCD, Digital Input appears.
    5. Press the button until Digital Input appears and press the button.
    6. Press the or button until DI-8 for (yellow) DI-9 for (Magenta) DI-b for (Cyan) and DI-a for (Black) appears and press the button twice. It is only necessary to run the diagnostic on the toner cartridge to which the error applies
    7. Open the front cover. (Figure 1)

    8. Remove and replace the toner cartridge. Every time the toner cartridge is reseated, the counter on the Operator Panel will increase by 1.
      • If the diagnostic does not increase by 1 then replace the toner cartridge.
      • If the diagnostic does increase by 1 and the error persists, Please contact Dell Technical Support for further advice.

Uninstall your software reboot the computer then reinstall the software. Sounds like the spooler is corrupted.

Printer stays in offline mode


Go to your control panel
Then go to Devices and printers
Make sure there is a check mark on your Dell printer so that it is your default printer.

Just bought Dell printer 3130cn, and am trying to install it on a network. Unfortunately the printer says "error 006-370 restart printer". I have tried restarting multiple times in different ways...


This error relates to condensation that was detected in your printer. You should not use the printer for more than one hour.

If this does not solve the problem, you should contact Dell at 1-877-293-119.

this message means that condensation may have occured in the printer, this can happen due to its location the temperature in the room, dell suggest not using the printer for one hour. Have you done this yet?

This type of error code implies that you need to restart the printer again. However, do check to see if toner cartridges are seated in the proper position. Also ensure that they have been locked in. Can't find "cartridge error 50C" in my Dell owner's manual


Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.
  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.
