Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have a honeywell st1700. A few days ago, i had to change the battery and ever since, when i switch on the power switch, both the heating and water system are activated. I am no longer able to switch one or the other off, as desired. Has anyone experience such a problem and solved it. If so, i would appreciate it if they could email the answer. Thank you

SOURCE: 44860 thermostat won't activate in heat mode

I had the same set and problem. I had a RC wire which is the power to the AC. But didn't have an RH wire which is the power for the heat. To fix this just use the jumper wire and insert it in with the RC wire and hook it up to the RH. Fixed my problem.

Sounds like a glitche in the thermostat. First, override the program & see if it does the same thing over the next few days.

  • Check any batteries and replace if needed. Ensure that you use only AA alkaline, nonrechargeable batteries.
  • 2 Check for oxidation buildup on battery contacts. Use electrical contact cleaner and carefully clean the battery contacts of any oxidation buildup.
  • 3 Reset the system switch.
