Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Open Question

How do I replace the hemp filter? Is there more than one? of course I've misplaced owners manuel, I've had it since July 2010, live where there are 3 indoor cats, I'm allergic to cat dander, for the first few months no problems with vacuum stirring up dander, however now, when vacuuming, my lungs start to close up. Definitely problem with the filtering system. Help! Today is 3.22.11, it's 11:24 am. Thank you.

SOURCE: Dog smell after cleaning

This is an inherent problem with bagless vacuums. The filter(s) will absorb odors and odors will get trapped in places that you cannot clean. This is why I always recommend bagged units. They are easier to clean and the odors go out with the bag. About the only thing you can do is put a deodorizer in the machine and keep the filter clean. Be careful not to use petroleum based deodorizers as they can affect the plastic.

I had the same problem. I called Dyson and they sent me a new "tank" for free. Something with how it seals up.

Hi there, its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though you need to re-set the brush bar. It can stop rotating if it becomes obstructed. You need to simply locate the red re-set switch on the side of the cleaner head and push this button right in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, it should start to rotate.

Is the spring in the clip that locks the filter in place , it's not much bigger than the one found in a pen !

My Dyson pet is overheating and shutting off autimatically. cleaned filter what else?

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 Animal. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. If you've already washed the filter, it may be overheating due to a blockage. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

Although you've already cleaned the filter, you may find it helpful to take a look at the video linked below to ensure you're doing it correctly. My dyson has, against all it's proclamations, lost suction. I clean the filter regularly (wash it out, etc) - I replaced the hose (it had a hold in it). Any thoughts?

Just got my dyson dc25 but the the ball will not turn,this is the first time using it

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the Ball doesn't seem to rotate correctly, it might help to check that the post-motor filter is locked securely in place, and that the filter cover is correctly fitted.

The video below shows how to remove, wash and replace both filters - note the way in which the post-motor filter is replaced within the Ball. It should be pushed into place firmly until an audible 'click' is heard.

Automatically shuts off after about 10 minutes of vacuuming. restarts after 45 minutes and repeats the process. We have clean the filters several times with slight relief from this issue but comes back...

Hi, I know on my Craftsman shop vac 2 different sizes of vacs that I use, I try and stick to the craftsman filters, but you can use other brands if they are not available or you want to save some ( $ ) ? As far as a manual for this vac, more then likely you will have to go to the maker and distributor as Sears, O.C.Hardware also sell there products. You may have to go with a manual that is the same peak H.P.and gallons that covers all different makes and models. Filter wise, make sure you have the right ones on or off when using the wet or dry pick-up settings.
