ON the back of that router there is a small hole labeled RESET you need a small paper clip, your going to poke the paper clip into that hole and hold while the power is on for 15 seconds then your going to release that!

your settings in that router should be RESET! Thus the user name and password should work. you might want to try other combinations like

Admin then press enter on the password leaving the password Field blank. After resetting this and the default passwords do not work then would you call this router a brick!

If you have any additional questions or any other information please reply to me.

Thanks and I hope this was Very Helpful advice for you.

I trying to change the key 1 in wireless (security)+my router is tew-652

You will have to log into your wireless router's admin console to do this.

Open up your web browser and navigate to your router's address. This is usually http://192.168.0.1. If that doesn't work, you'll have to replace that with your router's IP address. (Here's how to get the router IP address - you want the address of the Default Gateway.

You'll see a login page. If you don't know the login, try admin as both username and password.

Click Wireless from the left menu.
Click the Security sub-menu (left menu again)
You should have WPA2 selected. Your wireless password is the Passphrase. Change it to whatever you want and click apply.

To test, disconnect a computer from the wireless and try to reconnect. It should fail since the password has changed.

I need help setting up security.

By default, your router will grab the first IP address on your private network. This address is usually 192.168.0.1.

Navigate to that address in your browser and it should pull up the login page to the configuration portal. By default, credentials to login are admin/admin. Once logged in, you should change that password right away.

Then you may change the security settings on the router according to instructions that should have been provided. Usually, configuration will include access control lists, hiding your SSID, and creating a secure network password.

Cant find Security Key

To find the Wireless security key you have to login to your wireless router's control panel.

Disconnect your modem and other devices from your wireless router and connect your laptop/PC to your wireless router through ethernet port ( keep your ip settings to automatic in network settings of your Laptop/PC) then type the ip number 192.168.0.1 in your web browser's address bar.

Here you are you will get the login page of your router.Default login id is "admin" and password is "password" if this password is wrong then try with the password "admin".

After logging into the page you will find the wireless security tab.in that you can find your security key.

I am trying to secure my belkin wireless G router

WEP/WPA is an encryption you can enable on your wireless router to keep others off your wireless network as well as secure communications between users and the wireless side of the router.

A copy of the manual can usually be downloaded from the manufacturers website. Looking at the bottom of the router will give you model number, serial number, and version information you'll need to get the manual.

Each router is a bit different then the next, most come with a cd that will help you setup security. But all of them I have seen so far have web interfaces you can access by typing in the 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 ip address in your address bar.

Most default logins are admin/admin or admin with no password

Linksys router

Greetings!

I am presuming that the address you are using, 192.168.1.1 is the address from the user manual. This may not be the address that is actually assigned to your router however.

The Linksys Router can be configured in one of two ways, either with a static IP Address or by DHCP, a service that automatically assigns an IP from a DHCP Server on your network.

An easy way to test this is to go to a PC on your network that you know is functional and uses the Linksys Router as its network access point and open a command prompt from the start menu (start/accessories/command prompt).

At the command prompt type in tracert www.fixya.com and hit enter. The first address that you see in the traceroute is the IP address of the Linksys Router.

Write this down IP down and then plug it into your web browser. A login prompt window will appear on the screen. Do NOT enter a login name in this prompt - the default for admin is nothing. Simply input the admin password and the web browser will open to the admin page on the router.

As you are configuring a new network security password and protocol be aware of a few things:

1. WEP and WPA are two types of security used on these routers. Of the two, WPA is the more secure, however there may be devices and or clients on your network that do not support WPA. Prior to selecting WPA verify that there are no devices that cannot use that standard.

2. If you are adding a new security profils (password) and retaining the existing login passwords (keys) then your network will continue to function as it has, however if you delete the existing keys (passwords) then you will need to go to each computer/device on the network and update each with the new login information.
