Question about ASUS A3Ac Notebook

1 Answer

I have an Asus laptop. Last night I used the hard switch on the side of the laptop to shut off the wireless. About ten minutes later, I switched it back on, but the wireless didn't turn on. I ran the network wizard and it told me that the switch was still off and I needed to turn it back on. I've tried turning it off and on, I've tried the Fn+F2 wireless combination and it's still showing as not on. I know I have internet since my phone's picking up the wireless just fine and it works on my computer when the ethernet cable is plugged in. I've tried going to the device manager and updating the drivers to the network adapter (atheros ar92x wireless network adapter) and still nothing. Im beginning to think it may be a hardware issue. Any suggestions?

Prospector60,

Hello and Thank You for visiting fixya.com

You might be experiencing a hardware issue but first have you tried the following steps?

1. Take out the battery
2. Unplug the unit from the power

Then plug back in the unit and try the switch again?

Have you check your bios to make sure the options for the adapter and switch are enabled.

Its rare but it could be a hardware issue with the switch. You might get creative and open up the laptop and unplug the wireless card from its slot then plug it back in. But be careful and do that at your own risk. If its under warranty have Asus look at it!

Thanks for using fixya.com I hope you find these Very Helpful!

Regards,

Besides the thanks but no thanks vote the only thing I can think of is indeed the switch is the issue. Did you take out the wireless card under the unit to reset the switch!

Hi there. Last night I switched on my Asus A3Ac laptop. Its turned on, and after few minutes it went into hybernate, I pressed all the keys but there is no response. So I forcefully shutdown the laptop....

Try removing the battery and connecting your charger. Press power button for some seconds. Disconnect the charger, reinsert the battery and switch back on. Should work now. Else your power supply is faulty.

Security. Turn the key to run. Let it sit for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Then try to start. Do this three times for a relearn. Don't try to start.

Where is the wireless switch on my asus k53e laptop

The switch on most laptops is on either side or at the front. Sometimes it will be a switch to slide, or it might be a button to press.

Some laptops may not have a switch at all. In this case there will normally be a set of key strokes that you will have to hit to toggle the wireless ON and OFF.

Usually you will have to Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the Key that controls the wireless (F1 thru F12). The correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless will normally have the wireless icon )))).

My eee Pc will not boot up.. when switched on just goes to a black screen with a prompt.. is my BIOS dead.. have I managed to pick up a virus.. I have switched it off .. removed the battery .. run around...

The prompt is there to tell you that the hard disk no longer contains an operating system - the BIOS is fine. Try to reinstall using a recovery CD (order it from Asus if you don't have it) - if it fails then the hard disk itself has died and you must replace it.

How do i turn on my wireless on my asus laptop

FN + F2 then click the radio tower that comes up to give it a check box. Also there is sometimes a hard switch on the front or side you can use to disable/enable it.

No connections with my wireless on asus g72

It is a hardware problem. The switch on the Asus G72GX is at fault. I own the same machine, and the switch will hard-lock the wifi and will not unlock it. The hot-key will not work either. It took me a very long time to get to the root of the problem. The only solution appears to be to switch the wifi off, power down (restarting didn't work for me), turn the switch on and then power up.

It wont connect to internet on wireless, ive enabled wireless

Hi,

The wireless drivers may be corrupt.

This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to default settings, but before you perform this remove power from the modem and router for 2 minutes reconnect power and wait another 2 minutes for them to settle down.

Right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "uninstall" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again. Also please remember to turn on the switch or use a keyboard toggle to turn on the wireless radio.

Good luck.
