Have you swapped the drive in the xbox as this would cause a flag as if for example you mod the machine ? Xbox will pick it up if you updated the system ..

Error 40a3-0000-3080-0502-8007-045d

I got this from the Xbox support site for your error code.

Error Code xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-8007-045D
A storage device (such as a memory unit or hard drive) was not found during the software update. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 E console or Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.
  3. Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.
  4. Turn on the console
  5. Try updating the console again.
Here's the website if you wish to peruse it further.

Post back how it works out!

Your DVD drive rejected the current firmware, if your system is modified with a custom firmware then you need to update it back to stock and then update your system. if your system is not modified then you must update manually with a USB.
