After looking at Yamaha's very own list of compatible USB devices, I've got to agree with Steve--here's why:

Your keyboard is, of course, awesome, and I could never afford anything approaching it, you could probably compose an entire symphony on it--BUT, it's a leetle older, as far as 'modern' networking stuff, AND, like any good multinational corporation, Yamaha simply doesn't spend the time or energy successfully educating, or even informing, its very own customers as to what they should buy for these types of things.

Unfortunately, this leads to 'us all' buying tons of stuff because we didn't know there was a compatible model available elsewhere (just consider yourself lucky you're not some 'gamer' who unquestioningly lets Sony tell him to buy the most expensive 'whatever')...

I find 'tech' stuff all the time at local consignment stores that save me money, and I've been repairing computers for 15 years now!

As is often the case in 'tech', the model USB wireless device you mentioned is basically a little plastic case labeled 'Linksys-Cisco' over a wireless chip made by a particular standard--it's built on a chipset known as the 'Prism' chip (also a name-brand, BTW). It runs the entire little unit, and that's what you need--if your Yamaha is known to function better with the Linksys unit you mentioned, it's because Yamaha built your keyboard in 'compliance' with the requirements of the 'Prism' chipset to make a connection. Since there's not much of an operating system on your keyboard, this little chip makes connecting easier.

Oh--and if you want a good, hearty, (nerdy) laugh, just see for yourself--copy and paste the following web address into your browser's address bar, and, when you get to Yamaha's support page for your keyboard, click the link about 5 items down, labeled 'Compatible USB Device List', and download it to your computer for free. It lists just ONE single device ('Guffaw!'), along with some 'pretty outdated' USB flash drive devices, too.

So, you see, 'tech 101' is almost always the fun rigamarole of asking yourself "would this other thingie work?" (along with second-guessing major manufacturers to no end), then doing a little online research. I admit it! It's what I 'Google' for most often myself!

Have fun making beautiful music (and transferring it wirelessly across your local network!).

p.s. Don't get 'put out' if you have to download and install the FREE adobe reader, AND some FREE Japanese fonts from Microsoft...

    Good points, Steve...

Cisco purchased LinkSys, so don't be put off by the Cisco name. An 802.11b device is one of the first wireless standards, and offered a slow 11mb transfer rate. Others 802.11g & 802.11n are 5 times faster and more.

Regardless, you can find these for sale here. At the time I did this search, only two were offered at ridiculously high prices of $99 & $215 each. This is nothing short of highway robbery. Try looking on eBay for these devices for more realistic prices. I would suggest contacting Yamaha and asking for an updated list of USB wireless network adapters that work with your CVP305. The Support page for the Yamaha CVP305 has a list of supported USB devices available for download (Adobe Reader - a free program is required) called "Compatible USB Device List [English / 36KB]". You'll be prompted to download Japanese fonts for some strange reason - but the document is in English. I have included the list for your convenience, below (Manufacturer / Model / Firmware Version):

Airlink WLL013 Ver 1.50
BELKIN F5D6050 Ver 1.50
BELKIN F5D6050 VER2 Ver 1.50
BT Voyager 1010 Ver 1.50
D-Link DWL-120 Ver 1.50
D-Link DWL-122 Ver 1.00
LevelOne WNC-0101 Ver 1.00
Microsoft MN-510 Ver 1.04
NETGEAR MA111 ver.1 Ver 1.04
SITECOM WL-012 Ver 1.50
SITECOM WL-022 Ver 1.55
3Com 3CRSHEW696 Ver 1.50

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

I have to agree with Steve here--look into the other USB devices he took the time to list--seems maybe you are into keyboarding, and may be very good at it, but someone could take advantage of you if you don't shop around...use 'Google' ( and look up other compatible devices for your keyboard...

What are the demensions for a 2001 yamaha yz 125 engine magneto/flywheel nut? i need to buy one because i lost mine and dont know what size to get

Best thing to do is order one through your bike shop. Generally the threads on the crankshaft are of a particular thread size specific to Yamaha, Honda etc. and sourcing a nut from elsewhere is near impossible. They have to be balanced and are sometimes a left turning thread, and generally comform to a specific wall size for best fit on the parts. Trying to to replicate the nut would be a metter of trial and error. They are not that much more expensive than from a hardware store. The link below has the parts available or links to similar sellers. Cheers!

Getting Dropped

I would recommand you upgrade the firmware, if you already have the lastest firmware, then reload that same firmware.

These firmwares can be found on Linksys's website under support/downloads.

Best of luck.
