Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a Kenmore 363.9537813 side by side refrigerator. My "DE" flashes continuously. Last week it did the same thing and my freezer had a lot of build up in it and stuff began to thaw. I emptied the unit and turned it off and allowed it melt. turned it back on and it worked fine.No DE flashing.. A week later its flashing DE again. I don't see any ice build up and the contents are still frozen for now.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

JH, did you notice if the freezer back panel was full of frost first time it started thawing? If so you may have a defrost problem. I've had 4 of these control boards (jazz boards) fail on this model in the last week. Behind the front grill, there should be a tech sheet that will show you how to run the componet tests at the control board. Part number for the board is 12002339. This board controls compressor, defrost, damper and fans. Catriver.

SOURCE: drain tube always frozen...ice build up in freezer

Good day,
The first step is to defrost the machine completely.
The second step is to clean the drain properly. Service techs use compressed air to blow the lines clean. This is followed by pouring extremely hot water onto the drain pan below the evaporator. mixed with a little bleach, to flush any junk left over.
The reason for the extended shut down, is ice will build up under the pan below the evaporator coil, and if not melted and dried out will cause the problem to re-appear in a short while.
Shut down (unplugged) should be a minimum of 12 hours. 24 better.
A real pain, but is the best long term solution.

Freezer too cold--refrigerator too warm

If the cold control is not adjusting the temp when you move it, that can be part of the problem.
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Kenmore Coldspot Ice maker is not working on our side by side refrigerator

Just above the tray that holds the ice cubes is a wire bar. If the bar is down, it will make ice. If the bar is up, it will stop making ice. When there is enough Ice in the tray, when the bar comes downm, it will hit the ice. If the bar is not completely down, no ice will be made.

I bet the bar is stuck, or you don't have a water supply to make ice (or it's plugged - de-ice the freezer).
