Question about Packard Bell iMedia SL 9553 (P660401806) PC Desktop

Open Question

I am 81 years old but I have had Packard Bell computers since 1995 and found them very reliable. I attempted to do a full system recovery and I copied the 2 recovery discs from the hard drive but then found that I required the boot floppy discs to install them which I did not have. A friend offered to fix it for me but all he did was install an unregistered copy of windows XP which expired after 30 days and now I'm left without windows. I have since acquired the necessary boot floppies but I can't get past the boot stage as it asks for the windows XP home edition disc and won't accept my recovery discs. What do I have to do to get the to install?

SOURCE: replacing the battery on dell e510 - floppy disk drive not present

Replacing a laptop battery should not make a drive all of a sudden not appear.

You will have to enter the BIOS of the computer by hitting the required key stated at the first screen when Turning on the computer (usual located at the very bottom, it's almost always F2 or Tab or Delete)

Once in the BIOS the very first screen visible to you should tell you the drives hooked up to the machine VIA IDE or SATA. See if your HDD is located there.

SOURCE: i have an old packard bell pc and it needs to be

By rebooted, I assume you mean reinstalled? You cannot reinstall a PC this old without the operating system disk. New PC's have a utility partition that contains the reinstall package. You will have to purchase that OS from ebay or some other site.

Packard Bell units have the same recovery procedure as Acer computers if they are sold on the UK market, because Acer make Packard Bell for the UK [& emachines which are awful].

Power on and immediately hold down the ALT key, and tap the F10 key. This should load into the recovery console. From there, running a full recovery is self explanatory. If you are doing this to recover the PC from a virus I would recommend running the full destructive recovery which is usually the top option out of the two.

Hi

When you hit the power key also hit the F11 key keep pressing it until you get into the
recovery box

then follow on screen instructions

please back up all you files or pictures ist onto a disc or pendrive
because if you take it back to factory settings you will loose everything that you have put onto the

If the laptop is more than two years old. Time to replace the battery. The power meter is not a reliable way of seeing a bad battery. If just one of the cells in the battery is bad it will not run your laptop , and the meter still would show 100%
