Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Somebody just gave me a dryer from Inglis part no. 20065327 It works well but there is not light in the dryer when I open the door. Is it normal? I paid $50.00 for it and I wanted to know how old it is, in what year it was manifactured. Thank you very much for your reply.

Why is my inglis dryer not drying?

You must have a gas dryer. Assuming it is a gas dryer, the ignitor is working because she glows. the flame sensor is also working because the ignitor shuts down. The only other thing in the assembly is the solenoids which tend to work properly but short and die when warm, then when cool will work some more much later. very difficult to diagnose. Replace the solenoids and party on Amigo.

Will not turn on

Don't know much about them but wondered if it normally allows you to open the door while it's running and automatically stops. If so maybe there's a switch that closes when you close the door thats not working.

The Whirlpool Inglis has had a lot of problems with the door switch. Which would keep the unit from starting.

Well if you have this:

Then yer fuse is gonna melt and kill the door switch circuit. It will be just as if the door was open.
Clever ain't it?
The fuse and dryer heat control klixon sit on the blower housing:

Dryer suddenly started making high pitched "rubbing" noise when turned on and smells like an electrical fire. Two days ago it worked fine, now, I'm afraid to turn it on. When I open the door, the heat is...

Something could have fallen down into the lint trap area or gotten wrapped around a wheel. The only way to know is to visually inspect for foreign objects. I have some repair photos and a repair manual: HERE

Parts for old inglis dryer

http://www.myapplianceparts.com/index.asp

These people can find a lot of hard to find parts. I know Inglis is owned by Whirlpool now, but dont know the age of yours, or how long ago this happened. Door switches were pretty much the same, so it shouldnt be to hard to find what you need. Let me know if you need any further help. Jim
