Question about HP 35s Scientific Calculator

First, try adjusting the screen contrast. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Hold down the C key and repeatedly press the + key to darken it.
If that doesn't do it, try reseting the calculator. Turn the calculator on. Hold down the C key and press the GTO key.
If that doesn't do it, use a thin pointed object (unfold a paper clip or use a sewing needle) and press the reset hole on the back of the calculator.
If that doesn't do it, the calculator may need servicing (or replacement).
