I AM USING A BROTHER MFC 7340 SINCE 1 YEAR: NO PROBLEM EXCEPT WHEN PRINTING FROM PAPER TRAY, THE PRINTER SQUEAKS AND MAKES NOISE THAT IF ANYTHING ELSE WAS DOING THE SAME NOISE YOU WOULD THINK IT NEEDED LUBRICATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SOLUTION. REMI

The problem actually is probably due to needing lucubration. I would apply graphite lube to any rollers or gears in the user serviceable area. print 100 blank pages to make sure that the lube is spread thoroughly through the printer.

Good Luck!

When I try to print on the MFC 7340, the paper tries to load but stops and a message appears that the paper tray ihas no paper.

It could be the springs that push the paper up are worn out or maybe the rollers are old and worn down.
If the rollers are worn down you can order a maintenance kit and replace them yourself.

When printing from paper tray, the printer squeaks and makes a noise that if anything else was doing the same noise you would think it needed oiling.

I would oil it. Printers need lube too. I would use graphite lube because it is thick and wont spread except from where you put it.

Good luck!

My Brother MFC-7340 squeaks very loudly when printing. Is there any way to prevent this from happening (any place to oil)?

Certain Brother models have this problem. It is a loose screw on the fuser cover assembly. Instructions for tightening this screw are here. You don't need to grease anything - in fact it tells you not to lubricate this gear. Easy fix, took me 10 minutes!

If it is A4, it is too much paper and it is too heavy, it can damage the lift gear. Put half of quantity.

Problems printing to Brother MFC 8660DN printer

Pull the paper tray, likley a small black lever to the left of the roller called the edge actuator is dislodged and hanging down. When in position the actuator should easily push up and appear flat next to the roller.

How to print adhisive labels using mfc 7340

Buy laser-specific adhesive labels. Those that say "Laser printer compatible". If you have an inkjet printer, print the labels with it, with the laser is more risky because of the temperature the paper needs to get in the printing process. If one label gets out of the support paper or the paper gets sticky inside the printer, it will cause a real mess.
Try inkjet first, or buy high-quality labels and print one full sheet at a time, not label by label.

Clicking noise with MFC-8640D

Make sure that the paper guides in your paper tray are not holding the paper too tight against the front of the tray, there should be about 1/16 inch play so that the paper can be lifted to the roller easily. Also take out your toner and drum and turn it on, if the grinding noise is gone you may need a new toner, some refilled toners are too tight to turn properly.
