Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have the wireless router WTR54GS. My laptop was working fine and then it won't work. I have also tried to connect a wireless printer and I can't do that either. The wireless card on the laptop has been checked and is fine. It works fine elsewhere. We are currently using a laptop and a PS3. We have four ports on the router. Please help.

Plug in a utp cable in a lan port (there are 4 ) from the router.
The other plug in the lan port from your laptop.
Open a dos window and type ipconfig.
There you see a set of numbers like 192.168.1.1
Open a webbrowser, and type in the adress http://192.168.1.1 or the adres wich you found.
Now you are in the router webbased configuration. You need your login name and password, usual something like admin and admin.
There you can set all of youre wireless settings.

My HP G60 laptop with Vista won't connect to Netgear router

Usually there are 2 types of wireless connections, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Your laptop may not be able to connect to one of these connections, so it may be incompatible with your router. You can try buying a USB networking card (no more than $20). It will plug into one of your USB ports and should allow you to connect to your router. Hope this helps!

Considering How thick the walls are... the signal from your router may not be able to go through plus all the other EMI devices like Chordless phone etc.
Try Setting up the router in an open area suitable for a better signal for your laptop.

  • laptop has to be connected first to SSID

Wireless printing does not work

For an effective wireless connection, the printer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of a configured wireless router. This way, every pc(mostly laptops with wireless capability) can print to the printer. You will need a wireless adapter for desktop pcs to access any resource made available wirelessly ok. Good luck
