It is quite simple to fix, there is a special part that has all the
pieces attached to it, except for the spring. You will have to remove
the screws that are holding your dishwasher under the counter. This
could be behind the rubber on the sides.
sometimes you will have to remove a gray plastic
circle piece on the inside to see the screw (it pops right out, don't
loose it!). Pull out the machine enough to see the out side- side. You
will see a (plastic) white roller, string(rope), and a piece that
attaches to the dishwasher. There is a number on the white plastic
piece that looks like a L (it just slides out). These pieces are called
    the Dishwasher Door Balance Link.
You will need to order these pieces,
they are all inclusive, and come for both sides of the door, at a
whopping price of $15.00. VERY simple to install. Attach one end to the
spring, line up in roller then attach to the dishwasher. It is easier
to look at it and follow what is on the dishwasher than me clearly
    explaining it.

These door are very Heavy and like I have said Please try it, you can do it.

How do I adjust the door tension on a Bosch SHU 6802 undercounter dishwasher to keep it from falling open

you cant change the tension more likely one of the ropes attached to door spring has snapped so you are only getting counterbalance from one spring not two.

Bosch dishwasher door tension

Most dishwashers have big springs that run front to back at the bottom sides of the body. These are the door springs. Tension is adjusted by moving the spring to one of several holes in the frame. One way will give you less tension on the door the other way will increase it. If the dishwasher is new, why not call service and let them deal with it. Should be under warranty.

Door will not stay shut

There has to be some sort of spring on the door latch assembly that keeps the door closed. If broken or no tension the door will not latch and spring open. And when the door springs open, a safety switch shuts the machine off.

Door hinge tension adjustment

You have to change the springs at the bottom back. It; s easy. You must buy the item 0509 at this page or anyother you like http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Bosch-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Model-SHX45P05UC60/1794/0130000/1010702P/00005?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=
Then you must access the bottom side of the base of dishwasher and with a screwdriver pull off the old springs. After this you will see a cordon that you must remove it and connect this to the new springs.

Door falls open

The side spring springs could have unhooked. Some springs connect to a nylon rope that slides over a plastic guide. The rope could also have snaped or slipped off the guide. You need to open the sides (normaly the back first) to check. This is easy to fix if you have the right tools...

Adjusting door spring tension on a Bosch dishwasher

underneath are 2 L-brackets with the springs attached. Pull those out (with the door closed) and tension will be released. Shorten the strings attached to the springs and reinsert the L-brackets.

The door to my miele dishwasher does not spring closed and just lies flat when opened

The operative word is spring[s]. There are two springs to assist in lifting the door. One on each side. If your dishwasher is an older modell it is time to replace the springs because they are worn out.

Bosch Dishwasher

Hi ED, It sounds like a real problem here. If the springs are still in one piece, my best guess is to to remove the springs from the door. Then attach the springs to the dishwasher body first, then reattach the spring to the door. Not an easy job, good luck. If you have further problems check with www.repairclinic.com, as the repairguru there may be of more help.

Right on the top edge of the machine - get a torch and look directly under the worktop - there are two hex-head screwws about 4" in from each side. Clockwise to increase spring tension.

Door Problem

There are set springs for the adjustment of the doors on the Bosch dishwashers. they are colour coded for different applications. They are accessed by laying the machine on its back and pulling the springs out of the base. first you will need to check that the nylon lines which attach the springs to the lower part of the door mechanisms are in place and this can also be done while the machine is on its back. or by first removing the side panels to access the door hinge mechanisms. If you have a custom cabinet panel on your machine it may be too heavy for the springs and new springs will have to be installed.
