Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Packard Bell imedia J2412 Desktop, in the time I've had it I haven't cleaned out the insides and it looks pretty dusty. But I can't figure out how to open the case to clean it. There are 2 black plastic sliders on the back that seem like they would open it but they don't seem to make a difference. Any help would be appreciated.

Use the sliders till they are lapsed 100%, then pull (read "drag") that side of the case towards the back until an audible click, then pull it outwards.

I have an old packard bell pc and it needs to be rebooted but i haven't got the original floppy reboot disc how can i do it without the disc ?

By rebooted, I assume you mean reinstalled? You cannot reinstall a PC this old without the operating system disk. New PC's have a utility partition that contains the reinstall package. You will have to purchase that OS from ebay or some other site.

Hi ,not got reboot cd for my packard bell imedia j2412 desktop,I have been through the menu's and tryed all differant things and its still not rebooting can i even tryed turning it on/off still no luck...

at the boot screen you have options usually f12 will take you to recovery....then you will follow instructions to recover windows(this is not present on older pcs). If no recovery option then you will have to take it to a repair shop to reinstall windows.
don't forget to give testimonial and the votes 4 thumbs up if I helped.

I have Packard Bell iMedia 5094 (P660403401) which is very slow on start up and running programs can upgrade or add to the memory to speed it up

Howdy. unless you are doing nothing but very basic word processing, that computer will not run most modern programs well or at all. There is no way to speed it up enough to match current applications. A variety of faster machines are available for as little as 200 dollars. You can keep your mouse, keyboard and monitor and just replace the tower, or get all new for just a little more. walmart, tigerdirect dot com or overstock dot com have a bunch of deals. It's cool that it still works, though. you must keep it pretty clean. Farmerbear at FixYa

HI THERE MY PACKARD BELL 2215 IMEDIA WILL NOT BOOT UP. iT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN IT CRASHED NOW IT STARTS, FANS SOUND, BUT THEN IT SWITCHES OFF, ANYONE HELP? X

Sounds like an overheating problem. Clean the dust out of it, make sure it can get air on all sides, make sure the fans are turning. If that doesn't work, unplug the computer, hit the power button 20 times, wait 1/2 hour and boot it up.

No Sound

Look for device manager in the control panel to check if you have a sound card, look for an option to check its health. But first if you are not experienced volume might have been set to zero that's the first thing to check, volume icon is on bottom right of screen. right click and open to check volume setting
