Remove the sediment bowl off the bottom of the carburator and dump out any moisture,then replace it and see if you can keep it running with the choke partially on,if so then you have a lack of fuel due to a dirty carburator,if this doesnt help,the gasoline cap can get bad and go shut and vapor-lock loosen the cap and also try this

part # 754-04123 v-belt 1-888-656-7278 for parts pull off 4 bolt on bottom red cover to frame replace belt put cover back on

Mtd rear tines tiller won't engage tines. F and R


I had similar problem recently with 2007 Huskee MTD series 410. The shift assembly bent and couldn't move the clutch collar all the way over on the drive shaft.

the 135202 number is the b&s motor number

I have a 1996-1998 MTD yard machines,rear tine, dual wheel,chain drive,counterweight in front, walk behind tiller. It has the traction drve control on the left bar and the gear selection, side to side...

Broken clutch cable connector, MTD Tiller


I found micro fiche on jackssmallengines.com . Click on the manufacturer's tab at the top of the page then you'll have the option to use an off-site tool to locate your machine. I used it and found my 1990 mtd rear tine tiller. I needed the cable that engages the tines - maybe the same as you. The part number for my 1990 model's cable was 746-0535. Dont know if it was still the same in 96 to 98. But look at the fiche and see.

If you go to Sears.com, then go to parts,then type in the model number, then look to the right and scroll down slow you will see a spot that says get manuals for this model and click on view manuals then any manuals they have you can print them out.
