Question about Home

1 Answer

Hi, I have a Sterling Vikrell tub installed in my home. The drain has started to drain slowly, and there is no visible clog. I was going to use a home remedy of baking soda, vinegar, and boiling water to try to dissolve any debris that may be trapped below where I can see. Will any of these materials damage the finish on the tub? Can boiling water melt the Vikrell material in the tub? Thank you in advance for your advice. Sincerely, Laurie M

SOURCE: black spider like material that may come from jaccuzi

Is it greasy, oily spider web type junk? Coming through the pipes, new construction or new tub? Could be from the pump, not that it is leaking oil but it has oil in it from the manufacture of it. I would call the jacuzzi people and tell them what you have and that your kids play in the tub and drink the stuff, ought to get them to move on that one. Ask them if they know what it is and what to do about it? Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hello. We just installed an ensemble tub. It was

It really depends on how stable the unit is. Any crack repair risks opening up if there is any movement. If you think that it's stable enough, then epoxy resin with either gel coat pigment mixed to the right colour or (I have used in the past) marble dust (I used to work on reproduction sculptures and we got it in 200 kilo sacks!) Chances are that you might get something like the marble dust from a hobby shop. I imagine that resin with gel coat pigment will do you well though.

Mix up some and allow it to set on your mixing board as a test to check the colour match is right before you mix some to use. once you're happy with the match, use a stone grinder to open up a slot where the crack is (You will never just fill the tiny crack!). Then, bit by bit, build up the resin until it is standing proud. Use a blade to get the surface flat-ish and reasonably smooth. Then use very fine (1200 grit) wet and dry paper. Once you're happy with the surface shape and it looks good wet, lwave the resin a good 48 hours to set really hard, then use a cutting compound such as "T-Cut" to polish up the surface.

SOURCE: Can anyone tell me what material Sterling make their bathtubs out of? Does it last?

Their bathtubs are made from solid Vikrell material. In theory that makes them stronger and more durable and therefore should last longer. The bottom of the tub is full of water won't drain, any idea

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If it's still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...

Yes there is. You will have to go to a place that sells that brand and ask them how to get in contact with the people who repair them in your area.

NOT POMPIN WATER OUT.I CAN HEAR POMP GOING BUT NOTHING HAPPENS

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. To access the drain pump, please follow the procedure---
1. Drain pumps are mounted to sumps in the front of dishwashers --they're easily accessible from the front of dishwashers by removing toe kicks.
2. Tools needed: small flat blade screwdriver (for unlocking terminals).
3. Remove toe kick/base cover, pull up terminal cover and disconnect wires (using screwdriver to unlock locking terminals).
4. To remove pump, pull latch (on circular collar) & rotate pump clockwise (cw).
5. To install new pump, insert @ 2:00 position & rotate counterclockwise (ccw).
6. Clean water & debris from base, then check float operation.
7. Connect wires, then install base cover & toe kick.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

My bathtub drain leaks. Is there a product to

No, not without sealing, I mean clogging, the drain. Do you know exactly where the leak is coming from? I would suspect that the water is getting around the drain, instead of down the drain. The visible part of the drain should unscrew from the part that is underneath. That bottom part is likely permanently sealed to your drain plumbing.
You may be able to easily fix your leak by:
#1 Unscrewing the visible drain top.
#2 Replacing the washer under that top. This will seal your tub to your drain. All water will then be forced to flow down the drain properly.
#3 Screw the top of your drain back into place WITHOUT folding or wrinkling the new washer.
Good luck

We have a light bone shower enclosure that was

I have worked on vikrel tubs for the past 5 years and have yet seen a bone or any other color other than a light gray. Due to the tub making process, the tubs or showers are the color of the plastic use to make them. If you have a bone tub it has probably been refinished (factory? or by some company offering a bone vikrel tub. I would contact Kohler who makes the sterling line of tubs and ask their tech support about colorizing a vikrel tub. Look for a local and reliable tub repair company, they should be able to match the bone color. Ingredients in soaps and shampoo's tend to affect the refinish material.
Hope this helps you out.

Install bathtub without existing drain

it is generally not allowed under the water regs to discharge waste water into anything other than a drain.I would suggest you install a discharge pump, typically the saniflow type which will allow you to run the waste across the room and discharge the waste into the vanity basin drainage.Should you choose to install this be aware of the waste pipe configurations shown by the instructions
