Press the MENU button. Use cursor-down to select the fourth item from the top. Use cursor-left/right to select the self-timer mode and press the OK button, your choices are OFF, 12 SEC, and 2 SEC. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual.

It's in the "Using the self-timer" section of the manual (page 26 in my copy).

Do i need to power down to change the back up battery

If this is ordinary residential timer, you can replace battery without changing anything.
Just replace battery.
Most timers will hold some or part of the memory during battery changeover... frequently losing no programming if battery change is done quickly, and battery was not completely depleted, and timer is still functional.
If timer function is not restored after battery change, reset timer fully and then reprogram.
If battery change and reset does not work, then timer is probably gone bad.
Most modern timers have reset button, but some require a 2-button sequence to reset.
Other modern timers have a 'battery' but the battery is built into the circuit board and thus not replaceable ... it is rechargeable, like a capacitor ... but when it fails .. the timer needs to be replaced.
Timers with replaceable batteries are generally not functional after exposure to freezing temperatures for several day, but the non-replaceable type generally have wider tolerance for temperature variation.

Timer wiring

Possible that the timer wiring to the functions needs to be reconfirmed. Each of the cycles must be relative to the timer for the full functioning of the machine. Please recheck on your earlier work, if you made a circuit diagram , recheck the sequence.

How do I set in Automatic mode, seems to only work manually since loss of power?

1) Power outage is major cause of timer failure. Power surge occurs when power is restored, and electronics are susceptible to surge. This includes water softerer, treadmill, electronic water heater, timers, etc.
Timers should be unplugged when power goes off.
Of all timers on market today, only one instruction manual says to unplug timer with power loss. However many people write fixya saying their timer, and electronic water heater control etc stopped functioning after power loss. Probably other products have same problem, but I work with timers and water heaters and see only that slice of the world.

2) Question posted under Woods 59377.
Several timers look identical or similar.
59377 timer has non-replaceable rechargeable battery, some similar timers have AA battery.
If timer has battery, change battery.
Then reset timer to restore functionality. Press reset button for a few seconds with paper clip.

3) If timer function does not restore after reset, then timer is bad.
Buy similar timer at Lowes or Target, and return defective timer in new package.

4) If function is restored, then re-program timer

I have an Intermatic 24hr. Dial Time Switch box (mod.T104R) that is connected to my in-ground spa by a pneumatic with a rubber push button located on the spa deck. I pushed the button a couple of days ago...

You have 240Volt T104 Intermatic timer.
The clock works, and the spa works so voltage to the timer and spa are good.

You have push button control located on spa, and it stopped working.

1) The push button does NOT control the timer. T104 is mechanical timer, and the push button cannot activate the switch contacts, and there is no solenoid inside the timer that gives that option.
The push button is a separate problem from the timer.
So replace the push button.
Example push buttons at Grainger:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?op=search&N=10866&in_dim_search=1

2) Timer problem.
What does the timer do?
If you have a push button, why do you need the timer?
T104 is mechanical single-channel non-electronic timer, and cannot override the push button once the push button is OFF. They make industrial timers that can perform multiple functions, but T104 is not in that category.
This makes me think the timer dial does not have trippers mounted on the dial, or the trippers are worn down.
Maybe the timer function is by-passed. Maybe all wires are on terminals 1 and 2.
Check how the timer is wired, and then add a comment.

No display stop working. it controls a fan lite, the lite is on in a dimmed mode, no fan function.

Question posted under Tork SS720 timer.
I don't have repair for defective timer that worked before and stopped working.
If this is new timer, then add a comment and explain wiring in exact detail, and include what you mean by 'dimmed' mode.

Timers have 1 year limited warranty.
Timers are affected by line noise, and generally cannot be connected to a dimmer.

SS720A timer is robust 120Volt single-pole 7-day programmable timer, rated for 15Amp up to 1 HP.
The larger the amp load, the shorter the lifespan for electrical devices.

Last step troubleshoot for programmable timer is to reset timer and reprogram.
Reset timer by pushing in reset button for several seconds.
If functionality is not restored, then timer has gone bad.

Tork SS720 is identical to GE15071 timer sold at Home Depot.
Buy another timer, and return defect in new package.

Sunset sunrise doesn't seem to work anymore

Timer is not identified.
If digital timer does not function as before, try resetting timer and then re-program.
If timer has battery, then change battery and reset timer.
If reset does not restore functionality, then timer has gone bad. Most in-wall timers have 1 year limited warranty.

Below are common 7-day timers, but there are many different brands:

You posted under Woods 7-day timer: except Woods timer does not astronomic dawn dusk function. Woods 7-day is same as Tork 7-day and GE 7-day, and they do not have astronomic function.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59018-59028.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59028
Reset button is small round button.
Push in reset with toothpick or paper clip.
Then reprogram timer.

If you have Intermatic ST01C or EJ500 battery operated timer: Replace battery, then to reset timer: push-and-hold ON_OFF button, and then push reset button. Keep holding on-off button until display changes. Release on-off button and display will flash 12:00. Then reprogram timer.

If you have Utilitec astronomic timer, then press reset button and reprogram:

I have a utilitec self adjusting wall timer #0192773 that stopped functioning. The led display is blank. I tried to re-set per the instructions, but nothing. I've confirmed power to the timer. Does this...

If resetting timer does not restore functionality, and timer has power, and you checked that LIGHT BULB is good, then timer has gone bad.
To double-check circuit, replace timer with ordinary on-off switch and see if it works.
Warranty: buy new 0192773 timer at Lowes, and return broken one inside new package.

My Woods 59202 Lamp Timer doesn't have a switch labelled "ON/AUTO" as per the instructions, but obviously the only switch on it, labelled "ON/OFF" is the manual override. The problem is...

There are two timers that look very similar.
Woods 59201 programmable timer with settable on-off functions and switch with ON-AUTO
Woods 59202 random vacation timer that has preset on-off functions and switch with ON-OFF
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59201

Random vacation timers are not programmable.
They have internal pins that are preset for random on-off functions so house appears occupied while you vacation.
Random timers do not have AUTO setting, instead they are either ON or OFF.

Technically, programmable timers are also either ON or OFF, but usually these timers use the word AUTO, so you know lamp will turn on AUTOmatically based on settings.

The timer no longer working. I can only turn it on and off. It's a model that does not required voltage to work.

You posted under Aube in-wall timer.
If this is not your timer, add a comment.

Aube timers have a rechargeable battery that runs timer functions, and timer does not require 120 volts from circuit.

OK, I wrote to Aube about low temperatures affecting their battery.
Aube said, the battery is good down to freezing, and probably lower.
Lower temperatures cause display to slow down and not function, which means timer programs will not work when timer is exposed to cold temperatures.
Manual override would still work, but not programming or display.

So if timer is NOT located inside warm house, for example timer located in unheated garage or shed, then timer will not function in cold temperatures.

That being said, Aube battery is rechargeable.
Battery is not replaceable.
If Aube battery has gone bad, then timer is not repairable.

Intermatic ST01C and EJ500 in-wall timers are also battery operated. Intermatic ST01C and EJ500 battery can be replaced.
Almost all plug-in type timers also have a rechargeable battery that is not replaceable.
Several in-wall timers do not require a battery, but they need power from electric circuit.
